This game is being well recieved everywhere I look, which suits me fine because my first impressions of the previews we pure delight.
I can't believe I have to wait until April though!

Right now its got an average score of 92 which is suprisingly rare for a handheld game.

All the reviews I have read have been glowing. It seems whilst the traditional Fire Emblem strategy game underneath is very good its the personalities and the attachment you get to the characters that make this game great.

This was my favorite game last year. Aging stone of castles, soft carpets of forests and plains, howling sands in the desert, the crags of the mountains, the relief of the barracks after a bloody fight to defend beloved allies -- it has never been so convincingly conveyed in any other strategy game. And the music! I feel like the muses are right there beside me composing an opera to the tune of my decisions!

The sting of betrayal, the fierce resolve of loyalty, the complete despair when it looks like the whole world is falling apart -- many of the usual Fire Emblem themes come in, but in place of the dusty-book-like political intrigue the plot and characters have been warped in from planet crazy. However, instead of writing dialogue that completely ignores any kind of editing or stable foundation, the usual down-to-earth Fire Emblem dialogue provides a red carpet for all these crazies to go prancing on and it makes for quite a charming atmosphere. The best I can compare it to is Suikoden.

I played the game over and over, 3 times over in fact. My 3DS has me recorded at over 250 hours on it. As far I'm concerned this is the standard to which all SRPGs must now stand up to.

This looks awesome but what's the official EU release date? People have mentioned April but the Zavvi preorder link on the previous page lists 7th June :( Can't believe Nintendo region locked the 3DS

@JinTypeNoir - Not that it really needed it, but your write-up now definitely sold the game for me! ;)

I've probably already said it in this thread, but I rather think this is the game that will make me get a 3DS.

I'll believe it when I see it. I hope you're right because I'm already feeling pangs of regret about buying an EU 3DS.

Just picked up Tales of the Abyss this week so hopefully that'll tie me over until April. Maybe I should upgrade to an XL then.

Shame we don't many special edition bundles on these shores like the Fire Emblem 3DS one. That looks the biz!

    Okay, I believe it now.

The Fire Emblem 3DS XL is so very sexy. I didn't think Nintendo would release it in Europe.

The Fire Emblem DS in Japan and the US was a regular 3DS. This XL one has been specifically made for Europe because we had to wait so long.

We're also getting the DLC for free (for the first few weeks).

Okay, so if I do go for this Fire Emblem XL as an upgrade, presumably the preinstalled game is in the pack-in SD card. How easy is it to take the stuff on my existing SD card in my old 3DS and merge it with the game on the new one, so I can use that in my new XL?

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

I'm not too sure about how to do a full system transfer and keep a pre-installed game on the new system- in theory the system transfer would keep your old stuff and wipe off fire emblem, as it resets the new machine.

What I suspect is that, when setting up the new machine, it asks for your eshop/club nintendo details, and registers that you have 'bought' Fire Emblem, allowing you to do a full system transfer (you can copy all of the old stuff to the new memory card via a PC during the process) and then just re-download Fire Emblem but don't quote me on that...

I'm really not sure how it works with the system transfer-
upgrading a memory card to a bigger one is easy
transferring data from one 3DS to a new one is easy
Merging data? I have no idea.

    /so, er, yeah, I don't know sorry Mal :/

Hmm. Try emailing Nintendo? I'm sure this must have come up already as they were selling consoles preloaded with Mario recently.

I'm pretty sure the two accounts are "merged" so that you'll keep everything on the XL and just bring everything from the old DS over. I can't confirm that though and I wouldn't like to be the first one to try..

Dammit! For a moment there, I thought this was going to be released next week and then realised it's not April and the release is still a month away! Time to plod on with Castlevania/Tales of the Abyss then...

I will download that demo and I will play the shit out of it. Might make the 4-week wait for the game a little less torturous.

Wow, just played the demo myself and it does seem pretty fantastic... Having not played one of these since the first GBA one all those years ago, I'm definitely getting this!
