I can't seem to get onto the store on my Vita no matter where I try so I can't see: is there a demo for OlliOlli? I firmly believe I'll hate it but I'd like to try it, same as I tried Spelunky before confirming that no, this is not entertaining me."

Any Netflix library in the world for a couple of quid a month? Gimme!

Eh? The January sale? So it's not actually running all January? Ah well, guess I'm not getting The Unit or whatever it was called. Didn't get stellar reviews anyway...

One of the greatest games ever made, and one which is stll superior to every single JRPG released since in just about every way except, obviously, graphics.

Is it worth 3.99? Without a doubt. Get straight on it if you are in the mood for a classic JRPG experience, as even now, 15 years later, it's still peerless.
I'm going to give it a punt. If I don't get on with this then I guess it's official that JRPGs just aren't for me.

I prefer VII but I'm in the minority. I would say get both as they're quite different in some ways, but I don't want to be responsible for anyone wasting their money.

@Zizoo minority in preferring VII to VIII is that? Wouldn't call that a minority.

Preferring VIII to VII is a bit like preferring the prequels to the original Star Wars films.

Unit 13? It's got good gameplay but no story or anything to tie the missions together really. The mechanics are solid but it lacks something that makes you want to spend time with it. Some people here loved it though.

@TarickStonefire - Don't think there'll be an OlliOlli demo, but I might be surprised

I see VIII isn't discounted anyway as Moot said. Disappointing. IX it is.

OlliOlli was meant to be getting a Plus discount, right? I'm logged in to the web store and it's showing at 7.99.

    Edit: working now.

The sale is now up and in full force. Both FFVIII and FFIX now safely downloaded. FFIX backed up to my HDD and the best final fantasy (VIII) on my memory card. Noice!

Another week of Playstation Store goodies this week and if you believe the reviews, it's a big one.

Yep, OlliOlli is out today. The fresh, new and (for now) Vita exclusive game sees you skating through levels while avoiding the comical faceplants of doom. Eurogamer has reviewed it and loved it, but there is no demo sadly so you'll have to take your chances. Those who prefer retail therapy will have to deal with Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z, which is out on Friday (a demo is up on the store for those who can't wait).

Aside from that, you'll find a new LBP Vita costume pack filled with more DC Comic characters. Those who grabbed Muramasa Rebirth on it's EU release will also have the option to grab a new DLC pack with a whole new storyline to enjoy.

If it's sales you're after, there's the Final Fantasy (annual?) sale with every Final Fantasy game (except for FF3) discounted on the Vita and PS3. All the PS1 and PSP FF games are available to play on Vita so feel free to browse around without worrying about compatibility.

That concludes today's update. See you next week!

    Next Week
A MASSIVE Toukiden demo, featuring everything from Chapter 1 to midway to Chapter 2!

    22nd January 2014

    ****Full Vita Games****
    OlliOlli - 7.99
    Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z - 29.99 (releases Friday 24th January 2014)

****Vita DLC, Game Packs and Online/Network Passes****
LBPV: DC Comics Pack 3 - 4.79 (individually 1.59 each)
Muramasa Rebirth: Genroku Legends: Fishy Tales of the Nekomata - 3.19

having played VII (and loved it), would anyone recommend VIII or IX? (given that I'm too skint to get both!)

IX every time. Even better than VII in my opinion. (Also like VIII but IX is superior).

I suspect that your first final fantasy will be your favourite. I loved vii, but don't know if I could play it again. 8 is OK, but the enemies level up as you do, which kind of made it feel a bit pointless. 9 is classic ff, but for me it wasn't as good as 7, which was epic.

I feel if I hadn't played them back in the day, I probably would wonder what the fuss was about.
