    I'll be giving up meat for 40 days. I've done it before, it's not too tough.

    I'm not religious, but I reckon the pagan reasoning behind a lot of the religious calendar is probably still valid so why the hell not?

    I think that if anything, it represents the end of the winter stores - making it a religious thing would make it easier to bear the lack of foodstuffs. Maybe.

    Although, we do have lamb in spring. Mmm, lamb.
