Help! Found it this morning, got it into a corner and it is rather cute. But then it zoomed past me, slided across the wooden floor and has left the kitchen and now I have no idea where it is :( it is freaking me out. We are fairly new to the flat which is quite big and old so I imagine it has been here a while. But I'm currently playing lava steps around the rest of the house when I should be getting ready for work!

    Pissy pants.

    I saw a mouse!
    Where?
    There on the stair!
    Where on the stair?
    Right there!
A little mouse with clogs on
    Well I declare!
    Going clip-clippety-clop on the stair
    Oh yeah

It's currently in its lair planning it's packed day of running all over your kitchen surfaces and possessions while constantly pissing everywhere and randomly shitting.

I've had mice in at least two of the flats I've had in London - if you can isolate where they're getting in, then wirewool is the answer: they can't chew through it.

They've always managed to avoid the traps I've set, even laced with delicious peanut butter, but the last one found...another unpleasant end. :(

There is never just one mouse. There are likely to be at least 6 of them if you have seen one. They will have been watching you when you sleep. Also, those aren't currants in your porridge.

    Here's a novel idea. Buy a mousetrap.
A humane one is easy enough and you won't have to clean up blood and brain spatter.

Also, if you're in bed at night and you hear what sounds like a herd of rhinos stomping around, that's probably the mice. They make an awful racket when running around the walls/ceilings.

I've done for plenty of mice in the old Tom and Jerry style mouse trap, never had an blood or brain splatter. The first night you put them out is the best because they get wise to them pretty quickly, put a fuckton of them out and you won't get much sleep because of the constant sounds of rodent death.

Even got a slug once after it came in through the air brick.

Rats make far more noise. Any time we've had mice we haven't heard them, no damage or anything, they just appear in the middle of the room late at night, look cute for a second and then scarper.

Non-humane traps work fine. Find a pile of poo and set them up right up next to the wall. No blood or guts, they snap shut just enough to throttle them. Unless it gets hold of an leg or the tail, then you need to finish them off (small screwdriver to back of head) or take them far away (more than a mile to be safe).

    Rats are bastards.

Oh and mice prefer chocolate to cheese in those traps. You might want to have a look at this article
