Registered 8 years agoWell that didn't go to plan, but when your wife's water breaks at 4am, bang on 37 weeks with an extended breech and an ecv booked for next week any birth plan goes out the window. Surreal. Amazing. Terrifying. The best thing ever. -

Registered 8 years agoCheers! Mum and daughter both well, still in the hospital though. Been sent home as visiting hours are over, pretty brutal when your wife is in a bad way and the security guards are on your back to get out of the building. Absolutely amazing seeing your child for the first time, she's the most beautiful thing I've ever been lucky enough to look at. -

congrats!
feel exactly what you're going through, bud
12 years ago, nearly to the day, mrs hcnip developed pre-eclampsia at 32 weeks - mini hcnip was born at 36 weeks, but most of the time in between was spent going to, and leaving late at night, the john radcliffe hospital and that drive home alone leaving your wife and eventually kid as well while you feel helpless is a hard, hard thing - was just about at the point where they were sitting me down for the 'one or the other' decision but thankfully it didn't get that far
but, yes, those first moments are priceless
just a shame she's been a little fecker since....

Good stuff. As members of the Dad's Group know (if you haven't joined, do!) , my first came at 32+4 weeks. We are now 2 whole days beyond that with No2! -

Feel I should pass on the best bit of Dad's Club advice I've had so far: get the fresh nappy down underneath the dirty one BEFORE removing it. This will save you many unnecessary clothing changes as they seem to have an unerring sense of when you have left their nethers unguarded.Playing all the right notes— but not necessarily in the right order.

Not universally great news like the normal wonderful news in here but due to tragic circumstance I am expecting to become legal guardian to a baby boy tomorrow.
Really not prepared for this :/ I am sure everything with work out though. Of course I knew this could one day happen but you never really expect it to actually to become reality.
Just a bit shocked and shakey all round really. -

Still haven't mastered the knack of this one. The one time I did, she somehow sent a streaming arc of parabolic piss straight over the edge of the changing table and onto the floor anyway. I was impressed with the audacity of it.
