Couldn't see anything on this on the site or forum:

    http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/66710809/double-fine-adventure

Almost hit their target already :D

Edit: Nothing, aside from the news post I just saw as soon as I went back to the home page. Oh well.

My donation pushed it up to $7 under the target, I was this close to pushing them over the target.

I am insanely excited about this. Sod Psychonauts 2, this is what all sane people have been willing DoubleFine to make for years.

    :D

Gilbert and Schafer, back together, working on a point-and-click adventure game.

That alone has me salivating, but all the behind-the-scenes documentary stuff that backers get just made it impossible to pass up.

I chucked them $15 as this buys the game as well so, it's only paying for it early but you get to see how the game develops too which is pretty cool.

You get Beta access for the $15 too IIRC, so well worth it :-)

I should just point out at this point that BeardofZeus is not actually my beard.

    Or my sock.

    Or my wife.

    Now at $461,044

Half a million should be no problem. This is still under 24 hours old.

Chance of an HD Grim Fandango if it gets high enough or is that in some kind of license rights hell?

    Licensing.

Would rather they did something new. Something that they couldn't get publishers to back because it was "too risky".

Love the idea of these new community funded games, Project Cars looks like delivering an amazing experience for racing sim fans, hopefully this can do the same for those wanting an adventure game.

Half a million in less than a day. Jesus, I hope they have better self discipline than I. As I'd be on a plane to the Bahamas for a coke and hookers party lool

Amazing that their up to $515,000 already, wouldnt be surprised if they break through the $1 million barrier!

Kickstarter is such a good idea, whoever came up with it deserves all the success they get to be honest. I was very tempted to back a Kinect game called 'Bodoink' on there not too long back, they failed to reach their target though sadly. :(

Ill be keeping my eye on this new Double Fine project anyway!

edit - CHRIST!, it went from 515,000 to $518,000 in the time it took me to write this post!!

Nah I don't see it going over 600,000. And even then I'd be surprised if it went that far.

Fuck it, i decided to back it!

Im now $110 dollars worse off, but the nerd in me is looking forward to framing my poster and telling my grandchildren i was an "executive producer" on this game.

Not true but kids are stupid....

Wow, this is turning out to be a stroke of genius from Double Fine.
At this point I have no idea how much they could end up getting.

What's impressive is that the last time I looked, the average donation was around 42 dollars.

Looks incredibly likely that it's going to reach 600k at least at this stage, especially with nearly a month to go on it.

Back in November Ron Gilbert posted a couple of concept sketches on his blog for "something" he was working on with DoubleFine. Said it was a game idea that he's had for years, he's been wanting to make it since before even Maniac Mansion. The concept art looks very DoTT-ish.

Could well be this, perhaps? We know he's on the design team for DoubleFine Adventure because of the reward descriptions for the megabucks backers...

This is having good effects elsewhere...

    http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/ukie-plans-to-make-uk-crowd-funding-legal/091009

"Industry trade body UKIE will publish a report next week outlining how to make crowd funding legal for games businesses in the UK.

It wants to change legislation so that publishers and other games firms can receive money from large numbers of individuals, allowing them to fund new projects.

The news comes after developer Double Fine received $614,000 so far from individuals willing to fund a new point-and-click adventure project."
