Cool, just wondered if I still get online (Friend) leaderboards etc without it. Hope so. I'd rather spend the money on the Fury / HD Pack later on.

The reason I was asking was that it's labelled Online Campaign, which sounds sexier than Online multiplayer and I didn't want to start a single player campaign if the online one is where it's "at".

I'd say it's worth ploughing a bit of time into the single player first, if only to get to grips with the different modes and learn the tracks a bit (and some XP to unlock ships too).

@binky - online 'campaign' kinda over-sells it. It's pretty much as FuzzyDuck describes - a series of races who's win conditions vary with your experience and (possibly) quality of your opponents.

I'd personally spend the money on the HD+Fury DLC. Almost gold-medalled all of the HD events and will me moving on to Fury tomorrow :)

I'm not a wipeout veteran, the only one I've played any amount of us the psp original, but boy is this hard. I keep hitting the walls!! Love it though, hope I get better.

Don't worry Binky I was a bit pants when I first started. It gets easier. A lot also depends on the racer you choose for each particular level.

Finished the WipEout HD campaign - all golds :)

Started Fury. Forgot there were new tracks - just when I thought I'd mastered Sebenco Climb and Sol 2 ...

Is this worth it for single player only? I should be getting a pre owned copy tomorrow and obviously the online pass has been used. I don't intend to pay extra to enable multiplayer...but sure would love to get either Fury or HD as an add-on content. I wonder which of those two is better.
EDIT: nevermind, I just found responses to my questions in this very thread.

@Cosmopolitan Yup, same as my situation the other day. I think Single Player is the way to go.

I've not touched the MP side of things and still feel as though I've gotten my money's worth from 2048 plus the HD/Fury add-ons.

HD/Fury really do breathe extra life into an already great game. Has made me want to go back and try to finish 2048.

Started Fury. I'd forgotten about the additional play modes which didn't make it into 2048. Unfortunately, there's a reason the didn't make it. Really dislike the shooty one :(

How many gigabytes are Fury/HD, does anyone know? I only have an 8GB card.
  • Deleted user 16 August 2012 11:36:00
Wow, isn't this game a bit too fast. I'm starting to feel I liked the PSP Wipeouts better. The way they became more difficult with later stages, whereas this is hard from the start. Apart from those 'demolition' races, they're piss-poor easy.
Not bashing the game, it looks beautiful and all. Addictive too. But I think the track layout is rather neck-breaking. And the music is just meh. Certainly don't like how the ship's engine sounds, makes my ears hurt...
Of course I'd like to elite pass all tracks, but so far only managed three in the 2048 season. Looking at my friends list I wonder how could you people manage such stellar times. Is there some kind of cheat involved?

Did you turn off pilot assist? If you have any skill at all you will go faster with it off. Also, the default controls are wrong - shoulders are for airbrakes!

@Cosmopolitan You're not using the giro to move are you?
  • Deleted user 16 August 2012 18:14:31
No I'm using the d pad. And the assist is probably disabled but I will double check that.

I use the analogue. Much smoother cornering.

@Cosmopolitan - Pilot Assist is 'on' by default, but you should definitely turn it off. Speed is relative - at the beginning Rapier/C feels quick, but if you play Phantom/A for a bit and go back, it feels really pedestrian and I actually find myself turning in too early.

I agree that the 2048 tracks aren't as good as the ones in HD - but the HD ones are seriously excellent.

I'm about 2/3rds of the way through Fury. While the tracks are almost as good as the HD ones, Fury insists on frequently forcing you to race the reverse tracks meaning that you don't get the same instinctive feel for the tracks as you do in HD. Some of the modes in Fury are also pretty weak/annoying, but nothing game breaking.

@Flying_Pig Thanks for that man, it's HD then as a DLC for me. I'm pretty sure I don't need to get both games as that would make me fairly, er, wiped out.
  • Deleted user 19 August 2012 09:26:58
I wonder, if I buy HD then later sell/swap 2048 (it's the cartridge version), will I be still able to play HD? Without the 2048 cartridge being present? Can someone try this out for me. TIA.

@Cosmopolitan - just tried it. Doesn't work. I guess it loads up the whole game...

Do you need to have 2048 to download hd/fury on the vita? I have the game on my ps3 but not vita

I'd guess so, as it is DLC for the Vita game. Might be proven wrong though...

You definitely need 2048 to play HD Fury on the Vita. It's a cracking game, so you really should get it.

Blimy - some of the later races in Fury are really tough - far harder than the HD campaign.

Struggling to get a medal in some of the Phantom races!

I am struggling to get through the original lot and even when I do finally get the elite pass cheese's time pops up about 6 or 7 seconds quicker it's obscene how far I am from him

I have been using the original racer is it easier with a later car?

Some of the ships work better on some races than others. Have a look to see what ship the fastest few racers are using and (assuming you've unlocked it) try that one.

I'll check to see what one(s) I've favoured and let you know.
