Classic controls are referred to as 'Wipeout', default are known as 'Racer' (i.e. shoulder button to accelerate).

Have no idea how anybody was using that 'Racer' set up. L and R airbrakes all the way. Hope everyone has the pilot assist turned off fully too ;)

Have all Elite passes on the 2048 season, most of 2049 and 2050 too. Really been neglecting this but haven't played any games at all in a week. Tempted to put this on for 20 minutes, but i know there's no such thing as 20 minutes when it comes to Wipeout :D

Is it just me or do the racers in this sound just awesome. For some reason they remind me of the pod racers in SW episode 1

I still have the result auto steering on, it says minimal or something. Is there a tactical advantage to turning it off completely? Ie : are you slightly faster with it turned off?

I used to played Wipeout 2097 religiously and have 100+ hours on HD/Fury, so the first thing i did was turn it off completely (i've always got a major kick out of mastering the Wipeout games, there's a real learning curve to them that goes from you being it's bitch to vica versa), but i know the assist in HD/Fury was absolutely horrible.

Dunno if you travel faster with it on, but i assume (again from HD/Fury) that it let's you cut closer to the walls.

Edit @markyHD, indeed, the ships sound absolutely primal in this, love it very much :D

Grrr - only 3 races away from Elite passing all of the main single player levels, but seem to have run out of talent :(

And there's no way I could Elite Pass the prototype challenges... Is it me, or do ther other racers seem to get better in the final few laps of the race?

    Excellent game, though!

True, although as always there are players just dicking about and annoying everyone.

Oh, that's a shame. I must have been quite lucky when I've been on. Most of the time the split seems to be: pros, then people who aren't pros but know what to do like me, then people who seem to have no idea what they're doing.

Heh - equally I could have been unlucky the few times I've played :)

Perhaps I'm just old fashioned, but I would expect everyone to circulate the track even when playing Combat or not purposly blocking other racers.

The structure of the online mode is great though. Certainly something which Ridge Racer is lacking, sadly...

Never played any Ridge Racer game outside of demos, actually.

I have to admit, in some of the multiplayer combat races I seem to completely lose track of where some of the group behind me have got to, even when I slow down, so maybe they are blocking people and I missed it. Oops. Hopefully they'll get tired of it and move on to something else.

It's perfectly acceptable to pull a 180 and fly the wrong way during combat races. Recommended even.

Ooh are people playing this then? Wasn't blown away by the demo (despite loving Hd on the PS3) but as it doesn't seem to be dropping I think it might be worth a download.

So, has anyone managed to 'Beat Zico' yet? I hear it's nowhere near as hard as the HD/Fury trophy (which is just as well because for the first time in my gaming life, i actually threw my Dualshock across the room when i missed that trophy by 0.01 of a second!).

Tempted to settle into an hour's worth of Altima tonight and see what happens :D

I completed the 1st season last night really enjoying it takes me back to the PSP game I had years ago. Still experimenting with track/ship combinations and making the odd mistake.

Patch 1.02 is out. Sadly, I don't have the game so someone else will need to post the patch notes :p

Here's some info regarding the new patch:

Spurious times in leaderboards will be cleared out during regular maintenance. Exploits to get the spurious times have now been fixed.

You should be able to find a lot more people now (Via online multiplayer)
Patches 1.02 and 2.5 fix all known runtime issues on both games. Stability should be improved.

Additionally for Vita load times are sped up again.

Cross Play has been added to the PS3 version too!
Think I'm finally going to get this now!

Oh, are the load times improved much?

Doesn't say by how much so I guess we'll have to wait and see what the reports say (or wait until someone does a youtube comparison like with the last patch).

It pains me to say it, but having played the game before release the load times were the sole thing that put me off buying it. Now that they seem to be getting better I'm much more interested in it.

Well the pre-patch loading was horrid to be honest.

If you're a fan of the series you'll love the game, it's absolutely tops. Zone mode visuals are even more spaced out HD!

I'm kinda bummed i don't have this to play any more - so i'll cheer myself up with trying for that bloody Zone Zeus trophy on HD again! :D
