    What is this?
WipEout 2048 is the latest WipEout game, exclusively for PS Vita. The game builds on the gameplay developments from WipEout Pulse (PSP) and WipEout HD/Fury (PS3), while taking advantage of the PS Vita hardware features, such as touch screen and accelerometer.

Wipeout 2048 takes place much earlier in the Wipeout timeline than previous games, as the new sport of anti-gravity racing is beginning to emerge. As such, races take place in city streets, rather than dedicated tracks.

Huge fan of the Wipeout series - apart from Fusion. I hated that game.

Been playing this at work and I'm struggling to get over the load times. I really hope some kind of patch is released to help shorten them ala Gran Turismo 5. Other than that it's a stunning game.

Is it the initial load that takes an age, or per track? Do restarts happen instantly or is that a load too.

Long restart reloads are the killers.

From what I've read and youtube videos, race loads are the longest, restarts are 5 seconds-ish.
  • Deleted user 7 February 2012 08:31:11
Yup, restarts are fairly quick. I'm pretty tolerant of the load times initially, so I'm really enjoying it. A patch to speed things up won't go amiss though. I've finally finished the SP campaign and now going back to Elite Pass as many of them as I can. As always with wipeout, what you that was blisteringly fast at the beginning feels pretty easy when you come to it after the faster classes.

It's astonishingly pretty at times. Will post up some screenies from photo mode later.

For those with the US version (YOU LUCKY SODS), apparently patch 1.01 is out and reduces load times by around 25% (looking at some videos, 40ish seconds on a regular race, and 20ish seconds on a Zone race - whatever that means).

The US Vita is released on the same day as the UK so I doubt anyone's got one...

But this time you will be throwing your 200 pounds+ vita instead of 35 pounds dual shock :)

Now Sony needs Demon Souls too and Vita sales will skyrocket.

Ah, so that's what all those FEB references were on NeoGAF! I was puzzled as to why everyone was typing the month of the Vita's release in capitals. Duh!

PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Wii U, Xbox One, PC (Intel Core i7-4770K, 16 GB, 3 GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780, Windows 8.1 Pro), iPad 4, iPad mini with Retina Display.

I was slowly tipping towards getting this thinking I might be able to get the HD/Fury DLC, but watching GB's quicklook and playing some HD on the PS3 sure didn't sell me on the idea of the long load times and iffy framerate. They released two WipeOut games on PSP, right? I think I'll wait for the second Vita one, unless this drops in price shortly after launch.

So the patch lowers loading by around 25% to around 30secs hopefully they can reduce it even further

Does anyone know If the game supports custom soundtracks?

Dont kid yourself, Jimmy. If a cow ever got the chance, hed eat you and everyone you care about!

From what I've seen, it would need to lower it at least 40% to get it down to 30s.

If you watch the GB quicklook they show you how system-level custom soundtracks work. www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=z0RYPY1WIco#t=18m

Cheers for the link! Hard to tell if the track beats to custom soundtrack ala wipeout hd hopefully it does!

Being a fan of the first two games I recall the utter ruthless way the game punished slightly less than perfect steering. Is it possible to be as precise with Vita analogue controls? So as to enjoy the game properly?

Does this game support multiple save slots?

Because two of us will be using the Vita I cannot be bothered to keep factory resetting the console. Therefore we are thinking of signing up an account that both people will use so multiple save slots are important.

Really impressed with the different approach they've taken to online with this. It's almost like an onlne SP mode which I know is a contradiction. So far it's been lag free too. The only shame is that I can't see a way of hooking up with friends but I suspect that'll come with HD and FUry when they arrive.
