    Oh...
Can you really get items from other regions? I thought friend codes only worked with players in the same region as you, thanks to region locking.
Europe people have visited me in Australia, so I'd say the region locking doesn't apply there.

@TenderChicken Apparently you will get a perfect fruit from the beginning of the game. Plant it with a shovel cos getting a second one is pretty rare and you get more when the tree fruits :)

Chat to Labelle (the one by the sewing machine) everyday to unlock the QR reader.

Buy everything from the shops, if you want to unlock shop upgrades quicker (although there will also be a time requirement).

Keep fishing and catching bugs to fill up your encyclopedia and museum.

Go to the island when you unlocked it and catch many of the rare bugs and the sharks to earn lots of money at that stage of the game.

Don't bother trying to build an 'orchard' this early in the game; otherwise, you will regret it and take it down again to rebuild it like many of us have:)

@Mola_Ram How do you know you're 'close' to a Resetti picture?

Everyone seems to have given you lots of good starting tips. I can offer you a Silver Net, Shovel, Slingshot and Fishing Rod to alleviate "early game lack of tools frustration" if you're interested?

One of my residents told me earlier that you can create a music box by combining a K.K. Slider CD with a giant clam shell. Made one of them earlier and it's a pretty neat little item!

Indeed. Was handy in the Cube days, Oz got Animal Crossing two years before us, and it played just fine on a UK Cube without needing any kind of chip or Freeloader.

My problem with Animal crossing is that I have to do everything twice or my youngest son moans and moans until I get it sorted for him too. Every house upgrade is the thing right now.

Okay, gates open! I've put 40 fossils in the town square for people to take for their collections.

I don't need anything in return but please don't do anything to my plants/trees, etc!

Sorry Santashi, I missed your post earlier. I only need 2 more fossils too.

An Icthyosoar Tail and an Iguanodon Tail. If anyone has those, I'd be most grateful.

It's been over a week now since I got anything to add to the museum.

I have Amber, Trilobite, Apato Skull, Diplo Chest, Parasaur Torso, Diplo Neck x2 and a Ptera Left Wing going spare if anybody needs those.

Do you still have that Amber fossil going spare? It's the last thing I need for 100%

I'll be the one laughing at you all this Thursday, when I get my glorious interest from the bank! You may make your small amounts of money, but I, having scrimped and saved almost a million bells, will get almost 2 THOUSAND bells free! Take that, Stalk Market chumps!

Wait, just 2000? I really should've ran the numbers before now. That's not worth it really. Though if I do hit that million, I get a free Piggy Bank :)

Just spotted this over on the IGN wiki, sadly, too late for most of the items, but the last one might be of interest to some people:

Download Exclusive Best Buy DLC from Home

Can't get to a Best Buy location to download the exclusive items? Download it from the comfort of your home instead!

Change the SSID on your router to Bestbuy (in the United States) or _The Cloud (in the UK).
Set up a new internet connection in your 3DS system settings. Use the SSID above and, if necessary, your wifi password. (You may also need to disable your regular connection--just add or remove a letter in the old SSID).
Start the game. Visit the Post Office and choose "Ask about a present" at the counter. Enjoy your new item!

Best Buy Nintendo Zone 2013 Items

    6/16-6/29 RACCOON WALL-CLOCK
6/30-7/13 CAT TOWER (US) / SHAVED ICE (UK)
    7/14-7/27 SUITCASE
    7/28-8/10 DOUBLE NECK GUITAR

@Dodgymat I do. You are welcome to it. I can drop it off at your town tonight. I'll probably be online about 9ish.

Damn, I really want a double neck guitar!

@Dravos You did see the UK bit, didn't you? Haven't tried it myself, yet, so not sure if it's locked specifically to the UK, or whether it will work in EU/OZ regions.

Having just misinterpreted this sentence I've clearly been watching too much grisly porn.

That'd be great, thanks. I have Electric, Metal, Rock and Folk Guitars you can catalogue if you don't already have them. Can't help with the double neck guitar. See you about 9

@YenRug Yea, I can see we can do it, just don't think we should have to fake SSID to do get things, I mean obviously they don't want us to, so it's general frustration at making content only available to certain regions in the first place.
