There's a greek restaurant near to the college here that does the most amazing gyros. Just made me realise how utterly godawful the usual post-pub kebabs from Chicken Chicken Kebabs And Chicken were.

In 1981, a German landlord evicted a tenant without notice after the tenant spread surströmming brine in the apartment building's staircase. In the subsequent trial, the court ruled that the termination was justified when the defendant's (i.e., the landlord's) party demonstrated their case by opening a can inside the courtroom. The court concluded that it "had convinced itself that the disgusting smell of the fish brine far exceeded the degree that fellow tenants in the building could be expected to tolerate."[8]

Generally any dish not native to a country and not served in a specific nationality restaurant is awful!
It goes hand in hand with not eating at places that have massive menus which serve everything.

Another great country for food is Argentina, although I probably didn't experience that much as I didn't stray too far away from the grill. (Cheap steaks)

    Steak with Chimichurri is amazing!

Isn't it Iceland that has the dead fish that they basically preserve in lye? It's either that or the shark that they bury under peat and let it decompose a bit before digging in.
Either Iceland or somewhere in the nordics, can't remember. Viking descendants anyway. I saw someone eat it on telly, they did not look happy with the situation
I just remember Gordon Ramsay vomming on it.
I was thinking of Man Vs Food

He just did a new Man Vs Food on desserts. I have it recorded. It shall be immense.

Ah, in every country you can find delicious food and in the few countries which are the exception, well, there, they usually have some immigrants who make sure people don't have to starve due to the national cuisine.

Hint: countries with many foreign restaurants are really in need of them as well ;)

Some of the food on Man vs Food looks gross! large quantity doesn't mean tasty. Everything is golden and is described as melting in the mouth.....

Saying that though, some of the food looks tasty.

Is it me, or does he look a bit bigger each episode :|

The Americans take it way too seriously. It's like a football/hockey/baseball game for them watching him. I like how it brings the entire town out. "There's a new person in Town"

Edit: Also in the UK, I hate the false ad pauses on Man v Food. I assume these are placeholders from where it's shown in the US for extra ad breaks?

Some of the shit he eats has like 2 weeks worth of calories in it, I have no idea how he has remained so slim*

*by slim I mean he can still walk
  • Deleted user 24 January 2012 15:46:27
I dunno if anyone takes it seriously, it's basically viewed as the equivalent of Noel's Roadshow - if it turns up in your town you go in the hopes of watching someone be sick.

I'm pretty sure the reason that he changed the show from him doing the challenges to other people doing the challenges (in Man Vs Food Nation) is that he was effectively binging himself into stomach problems. Before challenges he used to fast for a day or two, drinking nothing but water. Then immediately after the challenge he'd go and run on a treadmill for 30 minutes.

How he could do the latter I've no idea. Moving after eating too much is the hardest thing in the entire universe.

Oh, and, if you're a fan of his and want to check out his new 'Amazing Eats' show, don't bother. It's basically just a Man Vs Food clipshow, without the challenges.

Feh, not even using custom burgers or buns or anything, it's just a pointlessly stacked up normal burger. Amateurs.

The thing that fucked me off about America food wise was how different sweets and chocolate tasted. Everything I tried even if it was something I like in the UK tasted like shit

In some countries they add something to stop chocolate melting, which makes it taste rank. Even on British recognisable branded products.

    Hershey's tastes like vomit! literally.

I've had good chocolate from America as well, but yeah, the mass produced stuff is shit.

But then I've heard them there continental types say the same thing about ours as well.

Did Ramsay really throw up after eatingsurströmming? I used to think he was cool.

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

He could spend 6 hours on the treadmill and still barely touch the calorific content of some of the monsters he's eaten. Many of them have been north of 10,000kcal.
