I know Alan Partridge is a bit of a 'you either get it or you don't type of thing. Since I moved down south I haven't met many people who actually like it.|
The new book from Ianucci and Coogan is absolute genius though. I'm just coming to the end of it now and it is the first time in a while I've actually glol'd whilst reading. Time has only perfected the character and it drifts between the ramblings of a deluded madman to the narcisstic ego massaging brilliantly. The tricks they play with basic literary devices and sentence structure is a good little bit of meta comedy in itself.
I'd heartily recommend it to anyone who finds the awkward comedy of Partirdge/David Brent amazing. For added hilarity, do obtain the TV series and watch it before hand. The difference between reality (the TV series) and his interpretation of events (in the book) is pure fucking gold.
