I regret to inform you all that

Ag Parrot, Revan 8, King O'spain and Brem Nacht were all KIA last night on their first tour of duty.

I need to ask those who have it already.

Do you talk to your squad members during a mission? :p

    Hehe.

I remember I made it to Dwight Shultz VI in one of my UFO playthroughs. He really was an unlucky fellow.

Not going to have my copy until tomorrow, but taking a days leave for the arrival, first time I've done that in a long time.

Only downside is that apart from tomorrow I've a lot on next week so I'll not get at it properly until the week after.

I do scream obscenities at them when they miss the berserker they are stood next to with a shotgun "Who made you a fucking colonel!?"

    Does that count?

Was mine a good, worthy death? Did I stand firm in the face of danger? Did I at least take a few of them Xeno scum down with me?

Or did I panic and run directly into their plasma fire!

    :)

Son is down and out with fever and I'm playing the absolute crap out of this. Easily as good, if not better than the original. God, I'm going to quit my job leading XCOM full time instead.

Poor guys no one ever says nice things to them when they do well.;)

Just this guy I watched talked to them more than making them do things.
Maybe he thought it was voice controlled.

@KingOfSpain You got critical hit from 30m away by a sectoid while in full cover inside a train :D, that set Ag Parrot into a fright and he pulled off an amzing panic shot to take out a sectoid who was below him outside the train. Alas he died next turn.

Please don't visit the official forums, it's worse than an alien invasion.

    Ordered.

So that's XCOM, Dishonored, Borderlands 2, Darksiders 2 and Binary Domain ordered in the last couple of weeks. Should keep me going until... Late 2013 I think?

Right just jumped into a impossible level game

It skips the tutorial. Launches into first mission against 6 sectoids. My 4 man team killed one sectoid, thought ok let's not get too cocky and rush in. Alien wounds one soldier, one of my soldiers then panics and kills another of my soldiers . Which causes 4th member to panic and kill the bloke that panicked. Wounded member bleeds out as no health kit, 4th member gets killed on next turn :)

Update looks between 6 and 9 sectoids

Hard lock up on 360 as I was customising the soldiers names

Reloaded and its taken me to the tutorial part where you promote your first soldier, now it won't let me do anything. Button A wont action anything. So on Xbox don't customise until after the tutorial is done just in case

Wow. Landed UFO mission, and I'm a bit down on fit troopers to send so I make my 5th guy a Rookie. We move in, do over a couple of Sectoids and Floaters, after which I decide to push towards the UFO. Turns out I was a bit too cocky, and my guys end up exposed on the right flank to a group of Thin Men that suddenly appeared. SO I have to manoeuvre my squad in order to keep our left, UFO entrance facing flank, in check in case some more pop out that way. Meanwhile the Thin Men are better positioned, starting to spit on my guys resulting a lot of panicking XCOM troopers. At one point only my Rookie is in the game. I feel everything falling apart, and a total wipe looks on the cards.

Then it happens. One of my experienced guys panics, reaction fires a newly revealed Sectoid in the head, killing it dead, freeing up the field for my Rookie to get round the Thin Men, taking them out one by one. My squad rallies (everyone bar the Rookie) was injured, we finally manage to defeat the aliens and grab an intact UFO. Went from total despair to jubilant triumph WITH ONE FUCKING PANIC SHOT! :) I love it!

It really has those brilliant moments where everything is turned upside down in an instant with opportunities lost or gained through mistakes or pure luck. I loved it from minute one, but it is, for me at least, reaching classic heights already, bar any crap popping out between here and the end.

Back to it. I think I'm about to lose India and have a terror mission coming up (I think).

Good shout. Thought they had released a new part of that for a minute! Saw it earlier. I've not yet decided the names of my squad, but they'll be custom. X-Com original first play experiences (and your feedback on how you're faring) are prompting me to think starting XCOM:EU on normal/ironman is probably best.

Why do I get the feeling that this isn't going to end well, either?
