Registered 11 years agoEnjoyed the demo a lot, only issue I had was how it handles the building interiors and what it shows, however that could be down to me being a twit.
Must give the China mission a try next.
edit: but of course it's exactly the same.

I'll confidently predict that the new game won't be as good as the old ones! They're a bit rough-looking looking now (and a wee bit buggy too), but seeing as you can pick them up for less than a pint of Carling, they're worth a punt. Enemy Unknown is the place to start.

Registered 9 months agoWell, I was going to play this at the expo, but this will do until then! -

Registered 10 years agoI can definitely see why people are excited about it now. Super easy to play, but feels very, very flexible. I like the "two move" system a lot, moving from cover to cover feels very natural and you don't spend much time at all watching stuff just animate.
I'm not really much of an aficionado of the genre, but it definitely feels like a complex game where they have just made it easier to do what you want, but everything you do makes a difference simply because units get so few hit points in the scenarios in the demo. -

Registered 11 years agoJesus Christ Firaxis maybe you should have trimmed out the BNK movies for things that you can't possibly see in the demo! 3.78 gig of the 5.4 gig download are movie files! This space left intentionally blank.

Registered 9 years agoIf this is as good as it looks/sounds, I'm going to end up buying it. Not many smart, complex and "mature" games released anymore. -

Registered 10 years agoPreordered - 20 quid at GMG when you use their 'trade in' offer, and it's a Steam key so none of that Capsule nonsense. -

Registered 9 months agoThe only advantage Steam gives you is the *potential* for a copy of Civ 5 being thrown in.... *if* enough people pre order.
Yeah, go with GMG. -

Registered 9 months agoJesus, I can barely play this thing. Mouse is sluggish, cut scenes are jerky, gameplay lags.
But I don't think it's my computer- it's pretty up to date. Why the hell is it so sluggish? -

Obviously it's very different but I thought it was pretty atmospheric and quite easy to control, though I totally forgot what the controls for vertical movement were directly after the first time I used them...
If I hadn't already pre-ordered it I certainly would after the demo. Will miss calling my base something daft, though. -

Registered 9 months agoWow, instant pre-order after the demo. Though the demo shows basically just a tutorial I was hooked. -

Registered 8 years agoYup mouse control was sluggish for me too, and the sound was distorted. Still good though, will get it Xbox.

Registered 6 years agoIt worked on my pretty crappy laptop which was a nice surprise. Really enjoyed it, sort of like a thinking mans third person shooter, mixed with chess. -

Registered 6 years agoWasn't sure about this till the end of the last demo mission: had my sniper and heavy on overwatch guarding the alley at the side of the warehouse and sent my assault to peek in through the window on the opposite side. She sees 2 aliens who immediately spot her, panic and jump out the window on the opposite side of the room, into the alley, into the path of my heavy's machine gun^^ Nice little non scripted moment that felt very natural, if the game's AI can produce this kind of thing on a regular basis then I'm sold. -
Good demo, but the controls aren't all that, feels very much like a port of pad controls rather than a genuine m/kb UI.
