Love loved loved the first half, but as my tactics got more efficient and the enemies got tougher it started to feel more like a chore. I was never in much danger of losing (though I did lose soldiers here and there, most notably a 50-kill veteran on my second last mission), but if I did anything adventurous it was sure to end in tears, which resulted in very slow, very rigid progress and it stopped feeling too much like fun sadly. Without fail, the abduction and terror missions were far more fun than the UFO missions, I'm not sure why that is, they just felt more fluid and dynamic to me.
A bit burnt out now but will probably do a second playthrough in a few months, with any expansion packs or tweaks they might have made in the meantime.
