Registered 11 years agoI fear that when I get home and playing I'm also going to find out I left it too late to get more sats up. Wasn't expecting the long build time on the birds either, which means I have a swish sat Nexus sitting there with no sats and a bunch of nations getting all pissy about aliens killing their people, or some such pussy ass bullshit. -

Cheers, had no idea there was a 360 demo - so bloody well out of the loop. didn't know this game existed until last week...
@mowgli
As far the comparison between the two demos is concerned, I don't think you'd be missing out on anything by going for 360 version. There didn't really seem to be much in it other than sharper visuals. I'm playing the PC version with the 360 pad and it works really well.
I'd say get it on the 360.
Demo is good so 360 it is!Pissy pants.

I'm not sure this is necessarily patch related, actually, and it was one of the things I started to notice late, late last night before I went to bed, so I was going to keep an eye out for it later. I'm actually playing on the 360 version, and I noticed a similar-sounding thing.
I think the new patch may be bugged. When I discover aliens they move, then I get the reveal cinematic and then they move again.
I had already read in the previews that the aliens get a free turn if you discover them in the open - like a 'reaction move' turn, which is fair enough really if you discover them and they are out in the open... they haven't necessarily had a chance to set Overwatch or whatever, and to be honest a reaction move is better than a reaction shot.
Like you, I have noticed that some of the teams that arrive because they have moved into your line of sight, rather than you discovering them, act in an odd way - they seem to take their normal turn of movement, and then because they have stumbled into your vision for the first time, they ALSO get a reaction-move turn, which doesn't seem right at all.
I haven't experienced it enough to nail down whether something specific, repeatable or broken is definitely causing it though. -

Please remember that the demo is a very hand-holdy tutorial type thing. Don't let it put you off the game!
In other news, Peter F Hamilton is no more (surprise Floater) but apparently Naomi Novik is a shit hot sniper. -

There is one where you have to go down some stairs onto a street and the VIP is on the far right hand side of the map. The road is the lowest part of the map so had 2 soldiers on high ground either side of the road in overwatch. As soon as I met the VIP then 4 thin men jumped in. all of them were in the overwatch arcs of my shooters. Those thin man were ripped to shreds in seconds
Love escorting people back and hostiles pop up from nowhere.And you have to tactically reevaluate the situation.I now have my troops surround the escort target and move back as one.
