    Still waiting till I can get the office school. Still got a squad of 4. Better get some more coffins ready I'm taking the rookies out. Deploying Ann winddecombe and Boris Johnson who I think is an alien and may just shot him first

    I'm about to have to start again for the second time on Normal. There seems to be an extreme difficulty spike after the first five or so missions, unless I'm missing something. Chrysalids and cyberdiscs can both one-shot my soliders (in Carapace Armour) pretty consistently so as soon as they turn up it's game over :(

    @neilka They are hard as nails, you just have to become a lot more cautious, Overwatch everything everywhere, reload between fights, if you run out of ammo switch to pistols during fights (no action cost), use smoke grenades and suppression a lot, if you think a fight is going to go south then stick a rocket in it.

    The SHIV is your {disposable} friend, send it in first :)

    Ok Emma Thompson nickname is now "Richter"

    Psychokitten is still the only day one serving soldier. Just got a sgt sniper as mission prize. Want to put 2 more satellites up to please Africa and South America

    Just put out a all female squad, kitten , Emma "richter" Thompson, Kate Moss and an ex Gf who has been a killing machine so far 3 missions 7 kills. Has been running around with the arc thrower like a lunatic

    The first demo I have ever played on xbox and pc.It runs ok on my pc so obviously that is where I am going.Plus the 360 controller works superb.

    It's quite tense, isn't it? Is there an icon that shows which aliens are in overwatch? Sometimes I run into the open and get shot.

    Well this mission was going so well now is a complete balls up moss, kitten, my ex all dead. Emma Thompson left.

    Was fun when I made a floater panic and he went on a killing spree inside the ship, killed 2 aliens

    It should show you as part of the aliens move.

    Thanks to reading you guys talking about this all evening, I've bought XCOM a second time on Steam as I couldn't wait til tomorrow to play it when my mail order arrives. -_- Roll on midnight!

    @Trafford they also seem to have a reaction shot where it hasn't specifically told you they are in overwatch, had this a few times to.

    Yep it unlocks midnight, check the store page on Steam where it'll tell you "in around 5 hours".

    The update probably explains why Steam has DOWNLOADED ALL 12 GIG OF MY PRELOAD AGAIN!

    Can we all stand and salute Cpt. Jack 'Garrote' O'Neill. He was a fantastic sniper. Survivor of 12 Missions and Killer of 17 aliens. He was cruelly taken from the world at the hands of a Muton. However, this was not in vain. As a result of his bravery and valour, we managed to capture said Muton alive. We will now conduct hideous experiments on this creature whilst thinking of you Jack. :)

    Patch notes:
    We wanted to let you know the details for the PC update for XCOM: Enemy Unknown that went live today (10/11/12). I've included the notes on this patch below:

    Various visibility/hiding optimizations
    Multiplayer text chat support (press J to activate)
    Mouse button 4/5 will switch soldiers in the Barracks
    ESC hides the movement grid, if you do not want to commit to a move while it is activated
    Squad Sight ability optimization
    Fixed issue when equipping two grenades with Deep Pockets.
    Fixed Rapid Fire sometimes consuming too much ammo.
    SHIVs that are damaged will no longer become unusable.
    Fixed some hangs/soft crashes in tactical combat.
    Replaced software cursor with the operating system cursor to reduce lag and framerate dependence.
    Fixed rendering bug which causes some soldier’s hair to appear as if it is rendering on top of environment fog.
    1080p movies are now used at all times on the PC.

    excellent idea, i was thinking what to call them. All the stargate characters it is.

    Mine that as well, though unlike the 25-30ish minutes it took for the first download, the d/l rate crapped itself the second time and took over an hour.
