    Amazing indeed. I had to read it again to make sure it wasn't an April Fool or something.

    Shame we have to wait until autumn, but it's something to look forward to. Hope this one doesn't get canned like that dream-thingumy-ridge-thingumy one did.

    I'm thinking it will play like a western Valkryia Chronicles, if not they could do with using that game as an inspiration.

    Oooh, this fills me with excitement. Enemy Unknown was one of the few games I have completed on more than platform. It played ok on the old PlayStation, so there is some hope.

    Excellent news!

    But just so that we are clear, Firaxis: no research, no base building = no buy.

    All the game really needs is a graphical overhaul and a less cumbersome interface.

    That could be cool, as long as they keep the hidden movement and destructible environment

    Yes, agreed to that, and to the fact that nothing much needs to change.

    For all this 'Actual New Games of 2012' nonsense, deep down I'd settle for a zippy looking UFO which didn't take ages working out what to do when there are still loads of enemies left alive.

    Also, we should still be able to separate the main part of our base from the hangars via a single 'lift' tile so that we can contain base invasions easily.

    That last part you could already do by building your hangar above the lift, general stores below and then (ten days later) everything around the GS. Aliens only ever come in through the hangar and lift, so there's your bottleneck right there.

    Persistent multiplayer, or some kind of deathmatch would be awesome as well.

    If there's a minigame then it should have something to do with freeing up enough RAM to make a computer work.
