One of my top 5 films of all time. Best ending ever. Discuss.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

Good man. I'm still fucking reeling from the ending to be honest. Fucking blew me away.

List is my favourite composer, who would want to kill him? "Kill Bill" is what I say.

So it was all a set up? All of it? Fiona makes her role clear at the dinner party, talking about it as a HR thing when she's assessing Jay and Gal for the job, to get rid of people. But that can only be a part of it, it's not the point of the whole exercise.

No. Crap ending. Too much Wicker ManThe director is a mate of my boss at work, so we all went for a viewing when it first came out. Still a good film though. Some good performances.

I haven't seen a head cave in as nastily as that since irreversible.

I reckon a second viewing will do it a lot of justice. Also was he cut on his left hand. And the whole rash thing as well.

What I like about it is that it doesn't feel the need to tie up loose ends or fucking explain everything. I was WTF is going on? I came out from seeing this and talked about it with my mate for hours.

    Fucking brilliant stuff.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

    Hand of the Devil!!!!! Aieeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

But I'm still pondering the ending. It's a lot to take in. Definitely need's a second viewing during the week with a few less whiskeys.

So - the burning question... was the cyclist from Spaced banging the main guy's wife?

It doesn't fall apart. The ending is clearly signposted throughout the film. Lots of people tell him to wake up, fiona's speech at the dinner table and the doctor.

I think they mean he's in a coma. Probably from the events in Kiev, whatever they were.

Either way, first 75% was OK in a gritty sort of way, last 25% was dire but the film has some good acting performances. Donnie Darko, Triangle and Primer are all far better.

What so he's just supposed to be a bit mental?
Thats what I took from it, yeah. Either he got popped in kiev or the medicine he is taking is for PTSD or something and is just going a bit radio rental.

There are a few things that indicate it. Like he sees something then sees a horrific version of it later. That and the fact the last few scenes make barely any sense and you kind of have to come to the conclusion that its all in his head to an extent.

Which is a bit shit as im not a fan of films about fantasy rather than fantasy films.

    Ending spoilers.

    My Take -

He's not mental, he's being either re-indoctrinated into a murder cult after forgetting he's been in one or he's their new messiah, anti-christ figure.

Rather than going into a breakdown he's coming out of one or reverting to his true nature.

He's driven to murder each person for viable reasons; a priest (contract), a nobody (contract/ what he's seen on the tape), The fellas guarding the lockup (The tape), cultists (self defence), friend (mercy), wife and child (self-defence). But by the end he's killed everything of importance to him and enabling him to become part of the cult.

i dont think the film really allows for that. Certainly killing his wife, if 'real', is fucking stupidity almost on a par with the twist in Haute Tension.

The wife - She can't see its him and vice versa, what's stupid about it? The laugh is due to shock rather than her being in on it.

Well, I've just bought the Blu-Ray. Going to watch it tomorrow and again on Friday or Saturday with directors commentary. In a way though, I don't want to know what the 'truth' is.

I'm in the process of re-watching it again and the whole thing of Gloria mentioning she's in Human resources and basically terminates under performers could be relevant to the hit's Jay and Gal are sent on?
