You might not be a true assassin, but the game itself is great. I wouldn't say it's shit

It is fucking dire, and the way they ripped off The Neverending Story is bollocks.

This is my least-appealing pre-order ever.

I like to think I am somewhat more nuanced than some here. I just find the series very flashy and very boring.

I know shopto say on their site that they're not dispatching until tomorrow, but I already got my shipping notice yesterday. Hopefully there's a chance that means it will hit the doormat tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed.

I've only played through the intro first couple of sequences so far. It seems very much like all the previous entries. Nothing new, but I suppose theres a long way to go. Having said that, I've never been a huge fan of the series.

Hopefully it will pick up soon, but I can feel the call of Xcom telling me to come back and finish my second playthrough! Oh and I really must unwrap Dishonored - still sitting on my shelf more than a week after arriving!

I think everyone who pre-ordered it got their dispatch emails yesterday, to be honest.

Did anyone else undertake a (n almost) complete media blackout for this?

I did, which means I've somewhat avoided a lot of the buzz and hype, but just about everything will be fresh and new to me when I get my own copy. I won't know how a particular scene plays out. On the flipside, ignoring something for so long kind of dampens your excitement.

Nope. Its either worth playing or it isn't.
Didn't you claim to play Shenmue 2 to completion?

Man this game takes a long time to get going. Once it does however, all will be treated to a fresh assassins creed game

Not sure what happened between me and the AssCreed. Loved the first two games, but couldn't be arsed with the other 2 sequels.

By rights I should be foaming at the mouth for this, but no.
Looking forward to reading some reviews.

Well my will didn't last long. I've now ordered the Freedom Edition from Gamestop rather than wait for it on the Wii U.

    Whoops!

A question to anyone who has the 360 version already...

What is the install size of the first disc? Now I've found out the first disc is just the single-player story, I'm curious to know how big it is (in comparison to Revelations' 6.7GB/7.5GB).

Official Magazines can get bent. Hell, EG gave Brotherhood 10.

I accept that AC is well made, and offers some lovely moments: I particularly enjoyed the climbing/exploration challenges in AC2 (inside tombs etc), and the cities are great to see.

But at the same time, it all feels so very 'design by committee' (a failing I don't get from other mega-corp productions, i.e. Halo, etc) and absurdly gamey in its historical setting. I realise the 'gameyness' is a wobbly concept: I love it in XCOM, for instance.

I suppose, ultimately, I just find it boring. It doesn't 'do' anything for me.

    Why am I writing this?

    Bored.

Brotherhood was great. That was the first AC game I played (apart from an hour in the first one).

www.hatchetjob.com - more than games. "Seemingly trivial, surprisingly deep"

Aside from the repetition of the first, i've actually really enjoyed all of the AC games. Revelations wasn't quite as good but it was essentially just more of the same so not much to complain about.

I hate to turn a thread into "When will I get my copy?" but, well... i've ordered from Gamestop for the first time, what are they usually like for deliveries?

Agreed, it was my favourite as I feel they improved on all the slight niggles about AC2 and made good additions to the game as well (apart from the multiplayer obviously).

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

I think those who ordered from simplygames did. At least 2 people in this thread have reported receiving a copy
