The more I see, the less it looks like the "epic upgrade" from the last 3 ACs that I had hoped it would be. There isn't much difference in the overall gameplay that I can gather other than the fact you can bounce across tree branches now.

HOWEVER: One of my major gripes has been with combat and that actually does look a lot better and more fluid. Hopefully if we're just mashing X again, at least it can look good.

Not sure what you're expecting, it was never going to e massively different.

This will be pretty much identical to the last few AC games gameplay wise and will still sell by the truckload because the setting is different and it has a bigger number after the title than the last game.

That's what the industry is now.

It's so funny how some ppl are actually expecting juge changes in this game...
It's assassin's creed, hoods, killers, stealth assassination, climbing...etc
The dynamic weather, the improved AI of ppl makes cities more filled with life, and combats seem to be taking advantage of the environnements around you (trees or something along those lines) and improvements to the graphical engine to allow huge landscapes and a huge number of ppl appearing all at the same time on a reasonable framerate, epic sea battles. This and much more (more of a minor details, certainly not that big, but still important to be had...).
I don't know what do you call that, but i call it big and worthful improvement, and if there's any other thing to change, i suggest putting hats instead of hoods, giving candy instead of killing templars, and so on... (stupid right? :-P )
Changing it might refrain hardcore fans from buying it,, preserving the essence of the game is for me more important than changing one of the core elements of a particular franchise (which would be a total disaster...)

Looking forward to giving this a try at the expo on Sat. Do we know if its just Multiplayer on the show floor yet?

Also tempted to cancel my xbox preorder and grab it on the PS3 instead for the extra content. I'm a little wary though as I'm fairly sure in previous editions the xbox version has proven to be the better of the two.

No doubt I'll do it and the 60 mins will end up being spent sweeping up horse shit...

Some new gameplay on CVG. The hunting looks like it might be underwhelming with the QTE's. Some other mini "games" don't look particularly good either

I was under the assumption the series was being "reinvented" with this title? I suppose I wasn't expecting massively huge changes, but more than this.

It looks good, just not "great" as I had expected. My expectations were probably too high. They've been lowered accordingly. :p

I admit it was my fault for living in la-la land and thinking all of this hype was actually for a reason.

Ha, those QTEs Who on earth thought they would be fun. It looked total shit in that vg247 video. Same old AC. I think they spent three years on tree climbing animations.

    No thoughts from the expo?

I found it a strange choice of demo. I thought they would want to showcase some of the wilderness as opposed to a relatively straight forward corridor section, which I felt played like one of the more basic Assassin tombs.

That said, I really enjoyed it despite its familiarity. The rep I was chatting to explained how the rope darts work and showed me when to use it, which was nice. I'm hoping it has a practical use though, perhaps as a distraction method like in Batman.

Hopefully, then the shitty practice may finally die a death.

i think i'd wait and see the pricing on the DLC's as i'm not too bothered about the multiplayer ones so if the single player ones are good, and work out cheaper than buying the season pass, i think i might but them separately.

Tried it at the expo - the maritime section.

Before the Expo I was in the "probably going to buy at a later discount" camp. Now... I am buying it at launch without caring the least about the regular assassin gameplay. It was THAT good. Ubisoft should announce a pirate game with that engine. I can't remember when I've been more impressed and thrilled with a game.

The sea battle section is my game of the year by far. Nothing comes close. Absolutely nothing. The rest of the game is just a bonus.

@Jmog I couldn't be bothered to queue for it at the expo. But looked awesome. Would love an open world pirate game. Secretly holding out for a Rockstar developed one though as they done such a sterling job with cowboys.

Basically, the old Sid Meier's Pirates would be the best thing ever if remade with this engine. It's even openworld to begin with.

Was the a separate queue for the maritime demo? I only got to try the regular demo. I would have queued again!
