Got a Marilyn Monroe figure, not interested in it. Anyone fancy a swap?

Well, thanks to the amazing @boo getting me this Lego set for my belated EG Secret Santa, I've decided to use my PlayTrade funds to buy myself this Pick-Up truck!

    Shipped :D

My son (3) is even more excited than me - keeps asking if it's arrived yet...

    @FWB

I've gone a bit mad with minifigs the past few days, and have bought a load of them from series 7, 8 & 9, with the aim of getting a complete set of each.
Haven't opened them yet, and I'm busy tomorrow, but I'll chuck up a list of want / swap on Weds.
May well swap you something for Marilyn if she doesn't turn up.

That truck looks the mutts nuts!
The alternate model looks pretty darn cool, too!

Pics as soon as it's built!

I have an unopened woodland elf from series 3 that I'd be happy to trade for either the plumber or police officer in series 9.

I live in Sweden though so the postage might make it not worth it

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

The Lego Minifig swapsies thread is up and running!

@FWB - I'll take that Hollywood Starlet if it's still available. Have a look at my list on the above thread and let me know if there's anything you're willing to swap for?

@Tonka - I've got a spare Policeman from S9 that I'd be happy to swap for your Elf. Doubt whether the postage would be too bad - they don't weigh anything.
    PM me if you're interested.

Cool. Let me check out the Lego Swap Thread you started and I'll pick something (after a few googles) and PM you later.

Um, am I a kill-joy for pointing out that I have been buying complete sets from e-bay for about 40 pounds (The Price goes up if you leave it too long after each particular set is released, but buy them just after release and it's going to be much cheaper than buying and trading...)

I know what you mean, MMM. I never actually intended to start collecting the minifigs - I was just going to stick to Technic.

But then I bought a couple, 'just to see what they were like', and then you're in a shop, and they're by the checkout so you chuck a couple on your basket...

    I suspect I'll stop after I complete 7, 8 & 9.
If I do want any more, I'll do as you say and pick up a set in one go.

Got the camera out this afternoon and decided to document my Lego. Crazily, this has all been acquired since Christmas.

    Less buying, more building...

    Lego porn.

Hey, boo. Might take the actor or evil robot for the starlet, if that's cool. Will let you know tomorrow, as have a couple of series eight packets coming through.

If you're into minifigs you can buy a sales box of 60 of them from Amazon.fr 130 euros. Not sure what price they sell for each in the UK but that's probably a good deal.

In typical fashion, buying them from the US and having them shipped only costs 113 euros...

I dunno how you guys keep your habit fixed at the insanely high prices Lego goes for in the EU.

I'm quite happy to swap. I don't want every one, so will happily trade ones that do little for me. Buying all would be too much.

The new mini Star Wars ones look ace B-wing, snow speeder and rebel diplomatic ship. Will get all of them for sure.

Is lego, in general, much cheaper in the US?

Yes. For example, if you were going to spunk part of your tax rebate on the SSD, in the US that would set you back the equivalent of 250 quid. It retails for 350 in the UK, (it was on sale online for just over 200 quid before Xmas).

Check out the official store and change regions to compare prices. Now, bear in mind that for most US states you will have to pay sales tax on top that price, anywhere up to 9.2%, (my frigging state)

Unless you buy all of your Lego from Amazon, who have strong-armed states by putting in distribution centers on condition of that state waiving sales tax, (like my state - we have a distribution center on the outskirts of the city I live in, which means I often get stuff the next day on the free 5-8 business shipping delivery option).

Has anyone tried 'Modding' minifigs ?
Besides printing front panels to stick on the figures (A friend did this to convert a load of older figures into the soldier types from the old pirate sets - So he could play a Napoleonic Wargame with Lego figures (and real brick firing cannons)...

I really feel the need to convert a figure to Judge Dredd...

And I love this Mass Effect Mako Model:

Lego and 3d printers, could finish lego the company off but think of the kick ass parts we could make.

And you'd feel smug until you realise that you have just sat on your custom LEGO chair in your custom LEGO trousers and are now stuck...

I think there are already a fair few companies using 3D printers top make custom weapons and armor and stuff. I think the required precision and durability for regular bricks is a fair few years off.
