Interesting challenge Tonka, you've given this some thought. Now for me to do the same :)

What is this 'Thanksgiving' of which you speak? It sounds foreign. Do you, perchance, mean Christmas?

In other words, build (or compose) something that captures the essence or looks like something in the real world. And yes, the USS Enterprise exists in the real world.

In this challenge you may use an official LEGO set but unless you show some degree of creativity that won't land you the first prize. Let me illusutrate

    This:

Is an acceptable submission. The minifig on its own (or the Empire State building on its own) wouldn't be enough. But now it's the scene form King Kong so it's OK.

But, that scene would be bested by this iconic MOC (one of my first)

    Questions?
Why is that Dalek in the bath? ;)

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

Sounds like we will have to do a Dalek week.
I'd win that in a heartbeat.

Why is Tonka obsessed with Daleks? It's all he seems to go on about.

It is a really cool set. Sure, a few mega moulds but then it's aimed at children.
But it's bursting with cool details and play features. I'm looking forward to play with my son when I get home this afternoon.

I have to construct a non Danish scenario where the princess isn't a hopeless floosy waiting for her knight to slay the dragon.

BAck to the set it's as if it was custom made for Kid A's (my oldest) interests at the moment.
    Dragon Check
Dragon diamond as in this animation that he loves Check
Dragon mountain as per the animation above
Dragon with two wings as opposed to this poor dragon (another animation he loves)
Shiny gold (I think the love of gold is genetically encoded from his chinese lineage)

    fantastic set.

Fantastic set, that. All 3 minifigs can't be bought elsewhere and you get a vehicle, all for a really decent price. It's a winner.

Any news on Hobbit or LotR 2014 sets yet?

    @up_the_ante

Is it wrong that I'm already pondering how best to fit that with the other ones I have ? Looks fantastic and some great detail. Right now assembling the pet shop modular, which is deceptively awesome - I only got it to add some variety and because of the Smythes offer but its really good and better than the pictures suggest!

Ok here is my entry for Tonka's theme. Unoriginally I've opted for his example of the The USS Enterprise:

I cheated a bit because i'd already built one earlier in the thread, but i dismantled it - rebuilt the nacelles, the saucer and re-designer the body so i think the re-model counts.

    Hope you like it :)

Not much of a turn up was it?
(Is turn up even a word, turn out, not many people turned up)

I'd be a fool not to reward ZuluHero with a well deserved first prize.

Really impressive build. Maybe he scared the rest of you away?

Congratulations to an awesome build Zulu!

    Turn out. :)

We could push it another week if people like? Maybe weekly builds are starting to get in the way of people's busy lives?

Or maybe everyone is working double shifts to afford the Parisian Restaurant.
I really like that set. I've strated working on justifications for it.

It's the perfect companion to all the CIty sets. The fire brigade can go there to put out fires, the garbage truck pick up the garbage. The police ca eat donuts and investigate art thefts. The minig truck could... double park outside the door and get fined.

    See?

I need it. Would be mad NOT to buy it. Even the Dark Dragon Master could use a Café au Lait and some rotisserie pork. Hey, the dragon could work there, roasting chickens.

I guess I better put my Game Cube games up for sale.
