WHAT?!?!?!?! FREAKIN AWESOME!!!! I've been dying to get a Mindstorms kit for about a year now, but haven't really been able to afford it - the price of the NXT 2 kit seems to fluctuate wildly - almost got it for £110 when they came down at Argos but the HUKD crowd flooded the stores and they were gone in a heartbeat.

Registered 9 years agoIm going to build a time lapse robot. My plan is to make a small tank like thing and put my camera on top of it. Then male it drive slowly and take a picture every second or so.
I've seen some rail based time lapse robots but I want mine to be able to drive in arca or circles or what ever.
Haven't had the time to start yet due to being away over the weekend. Will get building soon though.
The box is kick ass geek heaven. Robots and lego. A match as well amde as Star Wars and lego.If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

Registered 9 years agoYep. Its really confusing to me. I'm not used to the new type of Technics lego.
I built the basic starter robot last night and there were parts in there I've never seen. Will do some programming on that today. If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

Registered 9 years agoBuilding a time lapse robot proved harder than I thought. The new way of building Technics takes some time to learn. I got a 1.0 up and running late last night. Will do some short films with that and then start improving it.
Loving the set. The whole build, program, test, re build, re program, polay, test, mod, finetune cycle is a joy.If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

Registered 7 years agoI just found this thread! I knew you'd be hiding here somewhere!
I recently got all my old Lego from my mum's attic with a view of giving it to my daughter when she gets a bit older. I'd forgotten how much fun it is just to mess around with. I got 8 of those big ass Stanley compartment sorters (the ones used for tools and such) and sorted the entire lot into "type" i.e (thin)1x1, (thin)1x2, (thin)1x3 etc etc took me weeks.
Oh an i built a SR1-Nomrmandy.

Might try for a bigger one with better shape later on, but I'm quite happy with it. Trying to work out a little bipedal war-mech thingy at the moment though! Will post an image when i have a break through!.gif)

Registered 7 years agoThat's pretty awesome - always wanted some of the mindstorms stuff. You should post what it looks like too - though i'm guessing it's purely functional?
I currently have my eye on that Lego millennium falcon you posted on Amazon near the start of the thread.
Its up for around £90 which is getting to the pricepoint I'd splash out on it, as a birthday present to my daughter, you understand! There's no way I'd squirrel it away to the attic like Gollum - my precious - no siree!
Gollum, gollum!

Registered 9 years agoIt's purely functional but that makes it look rather cool. Only problem is that my camera is mounted on the thing....
I could use my iPad to take some pictures I guess.
Anyhow. When I slowed the forward speed down I noticed that I have to make the part holding the camera much more steady. Slightest tilt will make the film look rather bumpy.
Here's an extended clip.
(As for the Falcon I have it squirelled away in the closet. That and the Endor Base... and a mobile police lab... and that awesome Creations whare you can build a Jetplane or a propeller plane or a swamp buggy)

Its completely articulated, so legs move like, well, legs. gun can rotate through Y axis 360 degrees and X axis around 270. means it can aim in pretty much any direction. radar dish can rotate through 360 in Y only. but the wires connecting it restricts its movement a lot, so can realistically only do around 40 degrees before it pulls those wires loose. might hose these above the joint at some point to free up its movement.
cockpit can hold a guy and the canopy lifts yp too. small radar on top can lift up 90 degrees and swivel a little as well. Oh, and gun barrel rotates like a mini/chain gun.
hope you like!.gif)

Registered 6 years agoOk so heres the problem I've got. I dug out my collection of technic stuff and started building the various models. But lo-and-behold I'm a piece missing, a very long cross axle (says 32 in the book). Where can I buy single pieces?
I tried the official Lego store but they didn't have it. -

Registered 7 years agoDo you have the set number? Try going through their 'missing piece' service on the S@H site, LEGO's customer service is very good. Or try bricklink and ebay. -
