Making another stab at the gargantuan task of sorting through my Lego and I found this 'mod' which finally answered a nagging question as to what the name of the now-defunct supermarket on George St in Aberdeen was called:

I curse every day I gave mine away. I had tons of the stuff. :(

Is there a decent place to get bulk mixed blocks?

You can find them on eBay, if you don't mind donating a kidney to pay for it.

Part of my reason for sorting through all this is thanks to the SW Lego I got for Xmas. I bought myself Greivous' fighter, then treated myself to three more sets from Lego.com on Friday. I view them as investments. Look at the prices for sets that are discontinued for only a few years; if you had bought them and kept the boxes you'd be making a much better return on some of them than on gold or other commodities. Seeing that one set I got 2-3 years ago has doubled in value made me want to dig em all out. In doing so I've found I owned a lot more SW Lego then I thought. Going to need a much bigger space to display them all.

Going to need another house if I want to build all my vintage sets though. Here's a pic of the instructions I still have for all my old sets:

The investment aspect doesn't mean anything to me. I'd just like to build stuff again.

The investment angle means a lot when you're trying to rationalise spending $130 on Lego for yourself.

Is that happening? Looking forward to the LotR but what I'd really like is some Alien stuff.

Not that has been announced. TBH, the LotR stuff looks kinda guff; Castle sets with green men.

    2012 Lego.

Hmm, maybe I should try building an Aliens APC. Got enough grey pieces. Saying that, I've never been any good at making my own stuff. Well, that looks like something else; made a mean siege tower out of Technics when I was about 10, must have been a couple feet high. Was fucking awesome.

I could try and design it in the Lego program. Don't have the pieces though.

Go for it, should be able to find the pieces!

Looking at all this lot I know I have more stuffed in various bags and boxes.

I wish I knew someone who was autistic, or at least had OCD. Trying to sort out all this Lego is doing my nut in. Got Lego from the 80s to the 10s, from city, castle, Techincs, space, trains, Spongebob, Potter, Star Wars and other odds and sods.

Oh God, stop me! Tydrium Shuttle is 10% off on Amazon right now. Surely to fuck I don't need to spend $235 on a Lego set.

    Surely?

/looks at new Amazon cc with $50 free credit

If you chip in some money I'll buy it and then video me having an awesome time building it.

Holy crap, Khan. Why don't you try, ya know, putting some of that together before buying more! :p

I just went to amazon to see how much the most expensive lego thing is. $10k! All for something you have to build yourself. :)

Never realized it was such a commodity.

    A very rational thought, ronuds...

I have three old sets in partial constructionn, with another two in bits waiting for the boxes of pieces to be thinned out. And that's just the SW stuff; I'm also trying to build up some of the other recent sets so it's easier to find the pieces I'm looking for. Been sorting out Lego for about a week now. I finally found one piece of the Jedi Starfighter I'd been looking for that whole time.

Did you ship all of that over from Scotland when you moved?

I didn't but when my mum moved over here - following me after a couple of years - she dragged all my old toys over to finally make them my problem. A problem I'm more than happy to have.

As is the double VIP points and free shipping on Lego.com. Got my girlfriend's daughter hooked on Lego years ago. We've just perused through the catalog looking for styff for her birthday next month. Going to see if we can talk the grandparents into getting the Grand Emporium

LEGO Super Hero Movie Maker is an App for iPhone (and maybe Anroid I have no idea) that is free and will help people create stop motion videos. Brilliant idea. I was thinking about this a few months ago when I stumbled on some old LEGO movie maker pictures.

Back then people needed a computer etc to make film. Now all that can be done on a smart phone. Sharing must be so much simpler too.

    Looks pretty sweet.
