CUUSOO Back to the Future set leak

That set is so bought. I'm just wondering if I should get two or three of them...

    One to build
    One to MiSB
    One to just because

Am I the only one who thinks that the Back To The Future Cuusoo set looks rubbish?
The original that was submitted for consideration was much better.

Anyway. In other news, the new catalogue is available.

    In German.
But you can still look at the pictures...

Yeah I'm really disappointed by the BttF set. The new Technic crane looks good though.

I agree that the original looks better but I still think it's an amazing set. I have one of the big pieces used for the bonnet in the original so I might be able to recreate it

I recently built the 4204 Gold Mine. Wowowow. As always I'm floored by the details and inventiveness of the build. This is a big play set with loads of features like a working crane and conveyor belt.

Me and Kid A have had a lot of fun with it. My train set arrived yesterday but I'll try to keep that in the box for a few months.

I'm already planning on automating stuff using my Mindstorms kit.

As for the catalogue the stuff I like the most are the airport stuff. That Heliplane and the truck ...

Ordering from Amazon.co.uk also means a 20-25% discount compared to Swedish prices.

Yeah the BTTF set is a bit underwhelming but I guess that they have reasons for why they changed it as all we had of the original was a picture. No way of knowing if the thing disintegrated with the slightest handling or lost shape etc I'll still get it.

Worth noting that Argos currently have a big sale on Lego City sets including 50% off stuff like the Fire Plane, Heavy Lift copter etc it's been running a few days but stock is still available here and there so worth checking out if you like City or want some cheap parts!

The BTTF looks pretty poor, which is strange given how good their other stuff is.

That technic crane looks fearsome, make a nice upgrade from my one from around 15 years ago.

Looks like Argos are having a bit of a clearout. I've only looked at Technic, and they've got things like the Logging Truck at 59.99 instead of 99.99, and the Supercar at nearly half price!

    Get 'em while you can...

Does anyone know any decent spray paints to recolour lego bricks? I've done a little bit of googling but I was curious if anyone had any experience.

I've got a plan for a bit of a project but it's going to involve some custom colour as the pieces I need don't come how I want them.

Just back from New York, where I had to visit the Lego store at Rockerfeller. There's a massive model of the Rockerfeller in the window, which is fantastic, and even has Batman at the very top as well as hundreds of other minifigs dotted about. I came back home with the UCS X-Wing and a Y-Wing.

I've built the Y-Wing, and its an awesome set with a lot of detail. Took me about 2 hours and its only 458 pieces! Also has some nice minifigs. One thing that niggles is the Astromech Droid sits the wrong way round, the same as the non-UCS X-Wing that I built a few months ago, and have since broken up and put away.

I've also got a Tie- Fighter kit that I've just started, which also has a fine collection of minifigs, and the Super Star Destroyer set, which I have no idea where I'm going to put once built.

Good job i'm off work on leave for the rest of this week. My Mrs is going to come home and have a fit when she sees the SSD taking up the dining table.

    :p

Derbs - as Lego is made of ABS and I used to make canoes built of the stuff I can say that you're not going have much luck. There are paints formulated to bind to ABS - search for those - but I reckon it'll look like crap if you plan on using the bricks. If they are to be part of a permanent display you should be ok.

One thing I like about LEGO is the variety. That Technics crane some of you are lusting over does little for me and at the same time it seems I'm the only one who really like the plain old CITY theme.

Yeah, spray painting Lego is unheard of really, but dyeing the elements is very popular (just have a quick google into the topic, like how places like Brickarms, who make custom elements, do things). It's a delicate procedure though, as the chemicals you need can eat the ABS.

Cheers all. The problem with dying the bricks is that I won't be able to change the colour enough. I might just have to scrap the idea.

OK, now we're all dying of curiosity (pun not intended). What is it that you have planned?
There are chromed bricks if that's what you're after.

Talking about recolouring bricks - is there anyway to restore yellowing (through age) bricks?

Always disappointed when I have to use a piece from my older sets. I've thought about going through them and throwing them away, but i have some interesting pieces.

It's not that fancy, just a colour change on a set. I'm building the LEGO R2-D2 at the moment, and it's awesome. I would like to buy 2 more and then change all the blue pieces to create this little line up:

Problem is that on LEGO's own 'pick a brick' store they don't have all the blue pieces in yellow/orange or red, so I'd be forced to paint them. Dying the dark blue pieces won't give me the colour vibrancy that I want; they'll come out brown and purple.

I've consoled myself with the UCS Red Five X-Wing until I can figure out a plan of action.

I did, but only very briefly. I think that red will be ok, it's the orange that'll prove tricky... I'll look properly when I have more time and then decide if I want to make just one more, if it's even possible. I really wanted to make all R2 units as a little set.

Cheers for the all the help though!

Anyone in London want to buy a new 10224 Town Hall for 110. The contents are all new, sealed and mint condition, but the box is pretty wrecked, hence I'm knocking 40 off the rrp.

I have a lot of Lego, but this is still probably my favourite set; a great build, looks awesome on display and makes a great parts-pack if you build freestyle. I have three of them, but a need for monies and space is forcing a reluctant sale of one of them.

    Gods damn it!
I would like to buy this and this but I can't. Cause that's for US only. And if they released it in Sweden it would double in monies.

And if I buy it from brick link it would be double with shipping.

Need to get tickets to that event in Oregon... then have my work pay for a trip to the US... Oregon is tax free right? Who lives in Oregon?
