You need to chain together moves to get the multiplier up. Is in the half pipe do a kick flip, then a rotating grab and it'll net you double the points for example.

    Or just be this guy

The more I play this the more I'm getting back in to it. Questionable level choice aside...

Learning to play this game is a bit like learning french with someone going 'Yeah its easy' then speaking loads of french in front of me without explaining what the words mean. i.e. half pipe.

Is the basics. Press X, B, Y etc and the Stick in different directions.

Me thinks a skating game was not the right choice for you.

You're probably better off reading a guide for the original release on gamefaqs than asking here to be honest.

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

Yeah maybe but i wanna give it a try before i dismiss it. It took me a while to fully get "Trials" and now I love that game. I think it could be the same for THPS. I just need to learn how to play it as at the moment I just skate around for two mins and fall over and jump on a few bars by pressing Y. Im sure there is a game underneath this waiting to grab me.

Can you really not work out what a half pipe is?

The big thing in the middle of the Warehouse is a half pipe. There are quarter pipes around the edge of the level.

    Was Project 8 any good?

Now my Tony Hawk nostalgia is coming back I'm kinda tempted to see if I can pick that up cheap rather than this.

You need to think outside the box a little. Imagine a pipe thats been cut in half. DOWN THE MIDDLE. Crazy I know but try to imagine it. You my friend, are now imagining a half pipe.

Full pipes give double points while quarter pipes give half points. Simple.

Chances are you will have some freinds that will be able to sit down and show you how to play this game, it was quite popular at one time.

So it is a good idea to try tricks on this to get to 25'000/ 75'000 points

To get big points you need to manual (like a wheelie on the skateboard. Tap up, down or down, up just as you're landing) to chain tricks.

So a basic combo would be a jump into a grind on a rail, jump off ay the end into a manual, then up a quarter pipe and a nice spinning hold to finish.

The more tricks in the combo the higher the multiplier, so adding a flip trick into the jumps on and off the rail will boost you score further.

ignore buying tricks and boards. Spend all money on your skaters stats until maxed out.

GigantaLols at the half pipe piss taking.:)
I might buy this one today, I'll be bored shitless until TDKR tonight.
Is this the one where you can grind around the outside of an empty swimming pool for almost 3 days? Racking up obscene combos whilst doing so.

I normally never buy a game without reading reviews or checking the opinion of you lot. Wish I had before buying this one yesterday...

Dissapointed in demo. Wanted to play a TH game again. Ordered Project 8 online; never played, so looking forward to trying it.

I prefer the look and graphics of Skate, but can't get along with controls.

@Syrette Yeah they're not the easiest to do. You have to hit the wall at perfect angle.

+1. Easily the best 'recent' Tony Hawk's game.

Am I mistaken that you can do a manual straight after an air trick to link it to another trick? I can't do it for the life of me yet I'm sure I used to do it all day long on the original.

Also, kind people, in the warehouse, what does 'Grind 5 small QPS' ' mean?

Quarterpipes. As in the ramp behind where you spawn when you start the session, the two behind the halfpipe, and the two to the left of where you spawn after you come down the ramp.

You can't land in a manual if you're doing tricks on vert/half-pipes, that's what they added the revert in 3 to allow you to do.

One more career goal to do ... 400,000 points on the last tiny little skatepark that has no 'safe' bowls or ramps to pull off a BIG combo.

I hate using the Xbox 360 pad ... HATE!

The Mall and Downhill Jam are two levels I am so happy to see the back of ... blooming awful and joyless.
