Registered 7 years agoBecause its a stupid rule that nobody wants to see.
Also, rugby has natural breaks in play whereas they are running about all over the place in football. It would slow the game down more than half time cakes.

Registered 11 years agoIt's not though. It would require the players to behave themselves. -

Registered 7 years agoIt would stop idiots crowding round the ref waving imaginary cards. It would cut back on diving as now you've got to explain to your captain why he's being hauled over the coals by the ref. It would give the ref a firmer control of the game because he has the (admittedly very tacit) support of a player from each team. Most of all I just want to see Gerrard bellowing at Suarez in the middle of the pitch to stop beimg a diving cheating wheedling cunt because he's getting an earful from the ref and he's sick of it.LB, you really are a massive geek.

Registered 7 years agoIt is. All thats required is tighter enforcement of 'foul and abusive language' and the refs being backed up about it.
Its a sledgehammer to crack a nut. Enforce the rules that are already there rather than creating new ones.

Registered 10 years agoJust be able to hear the ref talking as well as players round him.
Players would get in line and there would be good feedback from refs on decisions and how they talk to players and vice versa.
That alone would solve the respect and sporting behaviour problems. -

Registered 7 years agoI also dont give a shit what they are saying. Its not gladiators, I dont care what the ref is saying.
I do agree they, for their own sake, they should be mic'd up though.---------------------------------------------------------

Registered 2 years agoWhat if your captain is your keeper or even defender? Lets say the foul is near the corner flag of the oppositions half, you'd have to drag the captain 3/4 of the pitch, wait for him to talk to the player, then wait for him to get back before restarting. Would take ages. -

Registered 7 years agoNot sure it'd really slow things down that much though. Shouting 'stop being a cunt' to whoever's being a cunt isn't much faster than waving the captain over and mentioning to him 'tell No. 11 to stop being a cunt or he'll get a yellow quick as arseholes'.
/may have a slightly fictionalised view of player-ref dialogueLB, you really are a massive geek.

Registered 6 years agoSaying it would 'slow the game' is bollocks - the game is already slowed by players crowding round the ref, arguing the toss about decisions, etc.
The main reason it wouldn't work is most footballers are thick cunts. -

Registered 6 years agoSurely the ref having to speak to the captain wouldn't happen that much either. And arguably, if it was introduced, maybe it would happen even less as time goes by.
Why not just trial it for a month or two?
Anything that can be introduced to cut down the cheating and general cuntishness of the players gets my vote. Even if it does potentially slow the game down. -

Registered 7 years agoAs I say, I think they just need to enforce the rules that are there rather than add new ones.
I dont like people pissing about with what is, essentially, a simple game, so just book people for effing and jeffing and have done with it.---------------------------------------------------------

Registered 6 years agoFair point, but I doubt it will ever happen. Instant yellow card for any swearing/dissent/arguing about a decision would be great if you ask me.
Might get an increased number of red cards for a bit, but the players would soon learn. Well, 'soon' might be a bit optimistic.

Registered 11 years agoYep. Should be away. But then it should have been two against most teams we played this season.
Can we please we out of sight by half time, so we can rest some players?
