Going to leave it for now I think mate - its one of those games that (for me) needs to be left for a bit before going for another run later down the line.|
Would love them to put more Tales games on it, just felt perfect.

Just placed an order with Amazon. Not quite ready to play it, but it'll be nice to have it for when I am.
In stock and £29.86 on shopto
Just a quick one chaps, what's the story length with this one?
I'm about 10 hours in now, just about to leave Baticul with my band of merry men, with the King having just signed the treaty with the Malkuth Empire...
Just look a few posts up.

To be fair, it's on the previous page. We don't usually do previous page on EG I assume this is the post in question:
52 hours and done! Wonderful game, anyone who has a 3DS and likes JRPGs has to get hold of a copy.
I'm beginning to really enjoy it actually, but the story is not a strong point so far. The locations, particularly Baticul itself and Chesedonia so far, have been gorgeous but echoing what's been said previously, the bullshit about fonons, hyperresonance and everything else is ridiculously poorly explained.
Also, maybe I'm not battling enough, although it certainly feels like I am; I'm really struggling for gald to buy decent equipment. Any suggestions?
I've just checked my Activity Log, and it says I put 74 hours and 8 minutes into it
The story can take a bit of time to shift into gear, but I loved the characters.
£15 in game... tempted
New? If so, grab it! It's between £25-£30 still online, if you can find a copy.
I grabbed it - yup new - was quite surprised and rung up on the till at 40 quid but they knocked it down, wonder if its a rogue sticker!
Very lucky if that's the case! Excellent game. Now that you mention it, it could be a rogue sticker - a mate of mine saw it in Game last week for £40 - he's been on the lookout for a copy for a while.

Its going for £19.99 on Zavvi at the moment too, if you don't mind waiting til the Apocalypse for it to turn up.
Good spot, cheers for that. I'll mail my mate a link. He knows as well as I do how awful their delivery is though; we both pre-ordered Resi Revelations from them and both copies turned up about ten days late.

I always find Zavvi very hit or miss. I've had items delayed, cancelled and take over a week in the post and then my RE:R preorder turned up launch day... Basically if its a good deal I'll go with them and just wait it out otherwise its usually off to amazon. In this case I'm siding with the former.

Just finished this, thought it was pretty hit or miss, honestly. And certainly the worst Tales that I've played after Vesperia, Graces F and Xillia.
Perhaps it's just because it doesn't have the benefit of gameplay refinement that the later games have. In any case, around the 25 hours mark through to at least 32 hours it felt like the game turned into an endless parade of travelling from place to place doing errands, which only lessened slightly once I got fast travel. Very few dungeons, very little action, utterly boring. Once I cleared the absorption gate things finally picked up again. I know Vesperia has a slow middle act but it still kept me gripped. Even Graces wouldn't let go until I finished it, but fuck me Abyss was such a drag.
Also, it has the same obtuse sidequest system as Vesperia so I had to use a guide (Vesperia's only specific weakness for me).
It takes at least 10 hours or so for the game's story to be remotely comprehensible. Luckily after that it gets quite good. Good characters too.
Battle system was underwhelming. FOF was quite fun to use but hardly essential. None of the main bosses were a challenge at all, the game was very, very easy throughout including the final boss who was just a joke.
It just felt like all the worst aspects gameplay wise that the Tales series has to offer, wrapped up in a reasonable story that isn't enough to save it.
Also, the gargantuan garbagey-ass shit tier fight against Nebilim can die in a fire. Fucking stupid fight that showcases what's wrong with Tales' battle system perfectly: whenever you NEED the AI to behave a certain way, the WILL NOT EVER do what you want. Set them to keep their distance and only use Fonic Artes? Fuck that, they'll just run in and use strike artes anyway. Pain in the ass. I was a little underlevelled (67-68) for the fight but that doesn't stop it being pure bullshit.
