So... what's Knowing (2009) like? Gets panned on Rotten Tomatoes, but it's Alex Proyas (Dark City) and the Cage-meister - can it be that bad?

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

Knowing is one of his better films in recent years. Mildly entertaining popcorn movie.

    @oceanmotion

Ironically, if I could see slightly into the future, I would have quickly been out of the cinema

It's actually quite good. Until the end.

Ah never mind. We started watching Best of the Best instead. I'd forgotten how great Julia Roberts is in it. Chris Penn is also totally believable.

I can't believe you don't all already own this. Two of the greatest Sci-Fi films of the past ten years, and a copy of Knowing (which I actually enjoyed, to my surprise).

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

I fucking hated Knowing. By the end I was praying for them to all just hurry up and die.

Yeah, this. Great film, utterly shit ending. Sadly it's one of those ends that makes you want to punch everyone involved in the film. See also: Source Code.

I went to see knowing at the cinema, being a proyas fan, and the entire cinema lold in unison at the bit where he hits the tree with a baseball bat and shouts 'come get some'.

Ok, finally watching Knowing. It's really not good. Cool plane crash though. Nick looks bewildered and tense, as if being given a colonoscopy by a blind man with scissors for hands.

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

Me and the wife were pretty much begging for him and his wanky mates to JUST FUCKING DIE ALREADY by the end of that film.

Wow. Conspiracy fantasy + disaster porn horror.

The saddest thing of all is that I know it's shit, and you've warned me it's rage-inducingly bad, yet here I sit, as the end nears. In shamalamadingdong paralysis.

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

Wait, it's an Alex Proyas film? Dark City bloke? Did they have his balls in a vice the whole way through. This film is just painful.

edit: just read the top of the page. My memory is rubbish right now.

    SCIENCE / ALIENS / TIME-TRAVEL / FATE / CHAOS / GOD / BOOOOOOOOOM!

If this turns out to be a dream and we see his wife coming out of the shower, I'm suing for waste of life.

    Did the kids get probed?

It's a good film! You're watching it all wrong.

Apart from the bit at the end, which is impossible to watch right.

Travelling the galaxies, finding inhabited planets, destabilising suns so that they can steal children.

Suddenly Savile doesn't look so bad.

The choice of music for the End of Days is surreal.

I hate how wobbly everything is on that CGI planet at the end. It's like they're living underwater or something.
