Adverts irritate me, but do you know what irritates me more? Adverts for stuff I have zero interest in.

I think crash meant one the One, and yeah, system powered now via a proprietary port (which is likely unified USB3 and power).

They're not going to remove Kinect. They worked the entire UI and OS around it.

I think they should do a Glass and have a passphrase you have to use before it listens. Then again, from what I've seen I assume it reads your face to tell that you're talking (and indeed who is) to stop "voice trolling" (ie some dick walking past shouting "Xbox off" or "Xbox go home").

Some of my favourite adverts are for shit I'm not interested in. Halo 3, John Lewis, Chinese life insurance. If it really knows what you want mine would just be a continuous loop of Tommy Cooper's LEGO advert.

@Dizzy @Sanctumortis Cheers, makes things easier. I've tested my 360 pads and they work through studded walls so i'll assume the same for the one.

Wifi Direct is supposedly far more powerful, so yeah I'd imagine those pads will have a damn good range.

There's too much good stuff coming out about the X1 now. The SDF is going to throw a hissy fit.

I love the comments on that article. People still hating on the Xbox and Richard Leadbetter.

Gaming is awesome, and everyone is miserable.

I don't want to leave my console on for 10 straight years, though! How dare MS!

He made a not so positive article on the PS4. That seems to be a no no at the moment with gamers.

I can't believe people were actually saying that - as if that's exactly what Microsoft designed it for!

All this talk of consoles going into standby or low-power modes... don't all current-gen consoles do something similar? And that's how you can turn them on with a controller?

That would be standby which still requires the device to start up and launch cold, like your TV.

Low power mode is more like sleep mode on your computer.

I switch everything off at the wall anyway when I go to bed or at work. You walk in, switch it on then put the kettle on, make some food so no delay for me. I do like the idea of instant on but will only get limited use. A hibernate feature would be neat as you could still switch it off completely.

Yeah, I'd switch the console off between uses as well. I'm patient enough to wait the minute most consoles take to boot up. Leaving stuff on indefinitely is just asking for trouble.

Good to hear that it may be quieter. It only needs to be as quiet as the slim to make me happy. Seems like both Sony and MS are doing more this gen to make sure we don't have what sounds like a harrier jump jet in the living room.

The bigger the console the better as far as I'm concerned. Reliability is much more important than looking small and pretty.

The only thing I leave on standby is my PC. Fast porn access is essential.

I'm happy enough to wait for it to boot up in the first place, but quicker loading and instant switching between games and apps is a boon.

Does the X1 have an external power supply?
So console itself might be quiet, but it's the Power Supply on my 360 that give's out lot's of noise.
Any news on the X1's PSU?

i am the same as some others here, i switch as much off at the socket when i go to work or bed since I got my energy monitor. Seeing the amount of money i was literally giving away was scary. I just hope this constant off and on will not be a problem.

It's as dumb as the achievement: if you buy a Live sub on "Day One" with the machine and games, it comes in a presentation steelbook. All the games also have unique art at launch, too.

This shit is the stuff that's really pissed me off with MS, if I'm honest: inane "Day One" stuff that's meant to appeal to collectors. It's fucking shamelessly dumb.

For people with more money than sense if it is substantially more than memberships being sold at the moment.

You get Killer Instinct: Round One and the exclusive character/skin Shadow Jago. Rumoured to be a bite sized portion of the full game. Shadow Jago available exclusively with Day One Xbox Live Gold until February 1, 2014; may be available elsewhere later.

A steel book for some reason after using a one use code.

People who buy mass-produced video game "collectables" are fucking morons. Like me for example, who's just spent 79.99 on an edition of Tales of Xillia because it comes with a small plastic figure. What kind of retard does something like that?
