Microsoft is sending over a bunch of staff to both Bluehole in Korea and utilizing their staff in Spain to help port the game while the main team keeps working on the PC version.
Microsoft is also helping them with security and anti-cheat design for the PC version.
Microsoft is aiding them in designing the controller feel (button mappings, auto-aim, etc) for the game, utilizing their experience in developing console shooters.
They also get to share in a lot of Microsoft's Unreal Engine 4 technology extensions. For example, they're considering putting Rare's water tech from Sea of Thieves in the game.
When asked about a PS4 version, PlayerUnknown notes that the biggest issue there is that they're incredibly strapped for staff on the team (they're currently trying to go from 120 staff to 300, and the rest of Bluehole's staff has to still handle their other games) that they can only really handle the PC version and the Xbox version currently. As previously mentioned, Microsoft is handling a lot of the Xbox version to boot. Microsoft's early access program (Xbox Game Preview) also lets them put this out while the game is still in early access more easily.

Does that make it like Bayonetta 2 and someone else's content/work stopping it being ported to other consoles?

They'd port from PC to PS4 minus anything they couldn't use right? Shouldn't stop it appearing on Sony platforms at some point in the future.

They'd be mad to avoid PS4 short of signing exclusivity. It is just going to be a while.

The latest preview alpha update is so fast and the "Light" system theme looks so good. Expecting the next update to mess it all up.

Yeah, it's really fast. A bit odd to get used to though. The new guide has so much functionality but puts certain things, like friends, behind an extra button press. It's very quick but at the same time why need the press?

The home UI is also weird, but much more customisable now. Will take time...

Not like they need the money.

PC is their main thing... consoles probably a nice extra but an extra headache. Wouldn't be surprised if it is a long exclusive or get bought by MS.

Anyone game share and have the new dashboard? Since it updated my ready to install list has pretty much vanished, there's only the f2p games that the person I share with "bought". I can download previous purchases from the store still so not a huge problem, just an annoyance, especially if it's not a common problem.

Just seen a used original Xbox one on eBay for 1200 :)
I was only looking the other week for one and still now I can only see prices ranging from 20 - 80. That person who has his/her up for that much is hoping.

In Japan the S is a UHD player that also plays games

To be fair it's not as if Xbox as a brand had any kind of traction in Japan, it's been that way since the OG Xbox and its mahoosive joypad designed for big American hands.

It wasn't actually designed for anyone's hands :) A third party designed the board, then when they handed it off to the Xbox team, they were like, "What the fuck is this thing?"

Still loved the Duke. When's that new one coming out?!?!

I did remember thinking who the fuck is the thing for when trying to hold the controller at a demo station in Virgin megastore.

It did seem a bit on the large size to me, but it also reminded me of the DC controller, so I was cool with it.

Surprisingly, I really disliked the Controller S when it came out. My Xbox got nicked in the summer of 05 when we got broken into, and when I eventually got a replacement from the insurance claim, it came with an S :( No more Duke for me.

I've been meaning to get one for some nostalgic Halo sessions, but then they announced a modern one at E3. Hopefully it releases around the time OG BC lands :D

What was that weird button on the top of the face plate, it was a sliver colour I remember. I have no idea what it was for.

    I... don't remember. It's been 12 years since I actually used one, but I don't remember a silver button.

Here's the Hyperkin one. They haven't said anything since E3 as far as I can tell :(

@JamboWayOh depended on the game. Think of them as the LB/RB buttons on the Xbox one

    @Baihu1983

I think I may have used that button for DOA3, man that game looked stunning back in the day, between that and Halo, I think I took over my uni house mate's xbox.

I also remember having to buy a remote control so you could watch dvds as it didn't have the license out of the box. Am I right there? Glad things are much better today in that area. Actually did anyone ever have the HD dvd drive for the 360?

Oh, you mean the black and white buttons..?

I bought the 360 HD DVD drive. Found it for a tenner when the discs were going for about three quid a pop :)

That's the badger. Black and white buttons. Odd.

I've gotta say I absolutely love the 360 in my top 5 consoles ever, but that whole blu ray, HD dvd debacle was ridiculous.

Yeah you had to buy the controller which came with a little sensor you plugged into one of the controller ports.

Bought a HD DVD player for 30 at game about 2 months before WB killed it by going Blu-Ray only

To be fair, they couldn't really have put a blu ray drive in the 360. Sony had a shortage of diodes for their drives in the PS3 (which, IIRC, is why the European launch was so far behind everywhere else), and MS launched a year earlier, too. There was about fifteen months between them here.
