Indeed. I doubt the Xbox One will ever match the PS4. Still, the future looks bright for gaming.

More likely they bundle some games, Xbox live, Skype calls rather than a price drop.

Kinect is going to make it very hard to drop the price and I don't think think Microsoft are keen on losing money on Xbox any more.

They still have to launch in other countries and I suppose they might get decent bundles if sales are lukewarm after Christmas.

EA think Sony and Microsoft will sell 10 million between them up until March I think with Sony expecting 5 million so an even split.

True but I hope Xbox One reaches a good level and not what COD and BF have shown. PS4 will always be better but if Xbox One can go up a few notches and maintain excellent quality then that would be great even if PS4 does a bit more.

    @MrTomFTW

Being an amateur when it comes to the tech, something always puzzled me: how can the ESRAM put through data faster than it is provided by the "main" (DDR3) memory?

I mean, how can it process 100GB/s or more if it only gets the data at 68GB/s?

Fuck knows. I've never actually used eSRAM, and I'm not a programmer. All I know is it's supposed to be damned fast.

The way I get it is ps4 has like a highway of 8 lanes to the memory, xbo1 has four but they allow busses to take a bunch of people across at once.

It'll get the data faster than that - from the CPU or GPU. Fast swapping I guess.

They should have put 8gb in, instead of the DD3RWhotsit.

    Tch. Amateurs.

Xbox live arcade was the star of the Xbox 360 anyway.

Edit: and I dare anyone to try one finger death punch from the indie section and tell me that's not a great game!! Tech, tech bah you don't need tech pfffft ;)

No doubt about that and i am excited to see what certain devs do on the PS4 as well as XB1.

Good thing it seems from the Sony end is 1080p at 30fps seems easily achievable so down the line we will hopefully seem further development on AI as well as graphics.

    Roll on 22nd November

    That's unfair, not all bad.

Anyway, there is some good laymen explanations in that thread if you don't quite understand how esram works and the different philosophies with Xbox One and PS4.

That's all very well but public transport is pretty unreliable.

Some tools, perhaps. Other tools, especially those with an affinity e.g. for Cell, don't really improve at all.

I'd be intrigued to see if by having Win 8 as part of the OS, they can use PC tools such as the AMD Mantle tech. I doubt having DirectX 11.2 will make a massive difference, though.

The issue this gen, really, is MS have just made an upped 360, while Sony have made a whole new machine adapted from PC tech. Thanks to the massive drawback with ESRAM (by being on the APU die, you have limited physical space available and it greatly lowers yields) expect serious issues for MS for the first year at least.

It'll be interesting to see what happens in the PC space soon, too, as the APU that was adapted (well, supposedly the same 8-core CPU with the GPU component switched for a far better one) to become the PS4 chip comes out in February, so PC ports may happen a lot faster. It'll also be very interesting for the fact said APU is supposed to retail for roughly 120...
