Nice one, you have terrible taste in teams, but great taste in comedy.
    ;)

The Fast Show's pretty embarrassing if you watch it these days, TBH.

What! Monkfish is great no matter what, as is Rowley...and the blonde!

I enjoyed it anyway, didn't like Arsenal getting beat 11-0 mind you.

Very dated. A show of it's generation.
The show that is the ultimate recent example of this is Spaced.

I don't agree, great comedy does not age. This is short but its funnier then 90% of the stuff on TV these days.

I got the complete box set of the Fast a few months ago and it's still quality.

Meh, I am soooooo over character sketch shows. Was never really into FS, watched too much Harry Enfield I think. The format was tired to me, bar the odd one

For me The Fast Show still buried the sketch format - it distilled it to a point where everything else seems so... fatty in comparison.

/possibly thinks too much about these things

    The hitchhiker guy "Slithering things!"

and "Black....all black!" art guy, sorry but those two alone justify Fast Shows existence.

I think all character sketch shows only really have two good series in them, it's just a flaw in the concept: unless you scrap everything and bring in a load of new characters (in which case you may as well make a new show), then you're just repeating the same catchphrase ad nauseum.

Spaced, however, is still awesome and Tom_Servo is clearly 100% wrong. Or his opinion simply differs from mine. But I think it's the first one.

Just watched the 2 specials, I thought they were great fun, a couple of misses but for the most part they were excellent, and the Blonde with the rack :)
Dave Angel and his breakfast was brilliantttttttttt!
Monkfish and Jazz Club also very good.

Thought they were really poor. Same jokes, badly rehashed. Can't watch anymore for fear of ruining my memories.

    @FWB
Really, fair enough, no point in spoiling happy memories.
I have a warmth for the characters so it felt nice to be back.

I'd have no problem watching the old episodes but I thought the specials felt really flat. It was odd not having a laughter track/audience in the background.

I really enjoyed the specials. Dave Angel was great and the "nobody wins...except Mr Kipling," line was brilliant :D

I enjoyed both of them as well, just a shame Mark Williams wasn't involved.

It would have been nice to have Ed Winchester pop up once as well but we can't have everything.

    This space left intentionally blank.

In fact, on the strength of the specials I'd gladly see it back for another series. But no, instead we'll get another 6 episodes of Mrs Brown's Boys instead.

    Spot on!
Likewise the brilliant Pulling got cancelled after 2 series/1 special and the total shit that was lager-crips run for 10 odd years, how the fuck!

I wouldn't say the comedy in the Fast Show is anymore worthy than Mrs Browns Boys to be honest. It was good at the time, but catchphrase comedy of it's type is massively dated now.
