You can't write a book that, what? profits directly from your crimes?
He could still write a book about plenty then...

This. For some reason I've always had a special hatred for him. He seems to symbolise everything that is wrong with the media and the 'modern world'. etc.

Even 8 years of stretching doesn't always prevent (best case) fissures.

That's standard. And no doubt with a book about his ordeal.

Is the age of the defendant taken into consideration while sentencing?

8 years is far more punishing for a 71 year old than a 21 year old as it is effectively a life sentence.

Actually, having just typed that, is it more punishing?

LB, you really are a massive geek.

Yes and no. You would expect a pensioner to get a far easier ride than some young buck.

Having said that, this is max clifford we are talking about..

How many celebrity sex offenders have come out of jail?

In most cases like this, the internet normally throws up an apologist / sympathiser or two - if not just trolling.

Yet it appears Max is universally loathed.

Now that you mention it, Gary Glitters 'Lonely Planet' guides of Thailand and Vietnam were on the best sellers list for months after he got out.

Off the top of my head:

    Tyson
    Peewee Herman
    Gary Glitter
    Roman Polanski

Wasn't Peewee caught touching himself in a porn cinema? Don't think Glitter had much of a later career. Tyson got away with it.

Think one of Black Lace went to prison for sleeping with a 15 year old.

    8 years? Holy shit.

Even if it gets halved to four that's a decent spell, especially for a famous paedo.

Tyson got away with it? How so? He spent three years at his peak earning prime (and he was earning fuckloads).

Fair enough, can't say I've exactly been keeping up. Still, being a PR man it wouldn't surprise me if he managed to pull some strings when he came out.

Crickey, that's longer than I thought it would be.

    Quite a prison sentence, too.

Our month-long focus on indie games starts with my look at the PS4's best game (still): Resogun!

I'm hoping he'll go to wormwood scrubs or something, but I know it'll be some cushy number with jigsaw puzzles and a nice garden.
