Attempted rape is a thought crime?

To be honest if we didn't listen to those who have committed some form of crime there would be very little if not nothing to listen to. To a degree you separate the artist from the person, just depends how far you go. I believe some John Lennon songs were banned from the radio because they were produced by Phil Spector. You could argue about not listening to Lennon because of his attitude and wife beating ways.,

Anyway not sure of the point but it's there somewhere

@Dirtbox I'm not disagreeing with you. But I do think when a public figure is involved it does need to be brought to light. It can't not be.

There have always been lynch mobs. We may not be doing it with flaming torches and pitchforks but human beings will be human beings regardless.

The only difference is we're hearing about everything more. There is and always has been mass hysteria. HG Wells would confirm that.

You are right though, and I dislike this finger pointing soapbox mounting society we are, but it's the way we are. Chris Morris saw it correctly.

Sure that is true, but yeah if married to yoko can't blame him.

@Dirtbox Just had a quick refresh on the points of that case. That one did go to trial and he was found not guilty. The polaroid was found in suspicious circumstances by an officer who also happened to find a lot of straight porn and books of photography at the same time. The family who's made the complaint (after they appeared on TV with Jacko) were found to have tried to blackmail other celebs.

Lennon was a complete see you next Tuesday by all accounts. He pretty much disowned his son from his birth and was a terrible bully, even threatening suicide if Yoko left him. I'm only okay with public shaming IF they are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

@Ironlungs76 I wonder if Watkins will end up quadrospazzed on a life-glug?

@Dirtbox Indeed - who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? Other than The Shadow, of course....

It is jarring to think how controversial that paedophilia episode was, and how many complaints it received. When to think in recent events with all this Saville shit and now Watkins, people can't seem to get enough details about what's happened and quickly saddle up the crusade cat, riding into battle with their iphones held aloft. It is just a bloody circus in the end.

I've met Ian and he was a cock.

I know people who are/were big butty's with him, and they are mostly cocks.

I think what he's done is atrocious and if I saw him in the street after this he'd get one hell of a beating.

But I'll still be listening to the Prophets first album because:
    A. I think it's good
    B. It reminds me of good times in my life

Everything after that first album was emo tosh mind.

As others have mentioned the band consisted of more than just Watkins, and they all collaborated on their albums so why on earth would you label it peado music and just cut it out of history? Do you think they're all at it?

As others have stated, what he's done is bad, very very bad. The mothers however, I simply can't comprehend it, being a parent myself.

As fucked up as Watkins is, Woman A and Woman B are fucking well gone!

Why did you have to quote my favourite band in this thread?

From that webchat video posted a few pages back, I would think that they at least had suspicions if not had full knowledge of what he was up to.

@TVoJ Band? I was referring to the comic!

I watched that video and yeah it was weird but I don't think the others really acknowledged what he said. Twas creepy tho.

Like DB say he probably 'joked' a lot that he liked young girls and it became a bit of a theme.

Regarding listening to music from people like this I kind of agree with dirtbox. I will carry on listening as long as no money goes to them and they don't profit by me.  Saying that I have never heard list prophets so in their case the point is moot.

Re: him joking about it. That's believable. There was an interview from a guy that himself interviewed Watkins a fair bit over the years, said the guy had a particularly dark sense of humour. Could be the humour was masking his true thoughts and his bands mates just assumed that it was his so called blackly comical streak. I can't think they actually knew, or even suspected that he really was a paedophile. They surely wouldn't be able to rationalise not saying anything or acting.
