Registered 3 years agoCliff definitely, will turn out The Young Ones is a polemic as to why small children 'shouldn't be afraid'. Of nonces.
Will also turn out that 'the song to be sung' will be Sweat by Inner Circle.

Registered 7 years agoThe original Celebrity Big Brother lineup was interesting this year. A racist nonce, a wife beater, a drugs cheat, an alky, a coke addict, a cake addict and a woman who sucked someone off in a layby.
hats off to channel 5 for securing such stellar talent.---------------------------------------------------------

Channel 5... I can't remember the last time I watched anything on that awful channel. Don't go near ITV aside from then CL either. -

Registered 11 years ago25 years ago? Sexual assault is a hard one to prove when recent. I think that unless the alleged victim was a chid at the time there should be some statute of limitations on such things.
Especially in a country where people will splash the story about the way they can't stop eating carrots even though it makes them shot out of their eyeballs all over the front page of a newspaper for a few grand. -

Registered 11 years agoThere's no equivalent of the Sun here, so no. Plus there are already statutes of limitations.
I'd also be curious to know if the police are using the definition of assault from 25 years ago or the current one. It's my understanding the definition has been broadened considerably over the years. -

Registered 10 years agoPaedophilia: bringing dark desires to light
He says it's part of the human condition and spectrum of sexuality and we should all sit and have a chat rather than burning paedophiles at the stake as not all of them act upon their urges and encouraging them to talk should allow help to be given rather than suppressing desires until it reaches dangerous levels.
I can see what he's saying but it doesn't sit right with me. Though as is said not every paedophile is a child-abuser and not every child-abuser is a paedophile.
Still to me this fiasco is more about the complicit allowance of vulnerable adults to be in the company of and abused by celebrities and others of high status in society.
That's what disgusts me, the abuse of trust by those who were tasked with protecting the vulnerable.

Registered 6 years ago@RichieTenenbaum I think he's "only" accused of abusing two girls in their twenties. So a sex-offender but not a kiddy-fiddler.
Of course, I could be wrong on that. -

Registered 8 years ago@RichieTenenbaum Well the allegations are from two women who would have been in their 20's at the time so I don't believe that would put him in nonce territory.
I have no problem believing Davidson might have been sexually aggressive given he was always in the tabloids at the time for womanising. I do think we are getting into a tricky area though when everyone at the time the crimes were said to have taken place would be adults. It's not as cut and dried as when one party clearly could not have given consent as in the case of paedophilia. This is something that happened between adults 25 years ago and you have to wonder how well any of them would remember the exact details of what happened. -

Not having it mate. I applaud an attempt to approach things from a different angle, ask questions that should be asked etc. But there is no excuse for this type of thing. It's a strange article, and I wonder what direction it will take. -

Registered 2 years agoBasically it's ok to be a nonce as long as it's mainly googling what your doing and not fingerbanging the young. I think that's what the Guardian article is saying. -
@AgeOfChaos I agree there can be no excuse for it. However we have to bear in mind how different the general perception of some of these offences were in the seventies. While obviously sexual assault is still the same, perving on 14-16 year olds appears (from tv clips at least) to have been am everyday thing... Still is in the Daily Fail.
