Anyone having problems connecting? Not getting any joy today, for whatever reason.

Edit: never mind... in typical fashion, as soon as I posted that it randomly started working again!

Reminded me of that You Don't Know Jack game. I felt bad rejecting all his ideas so picked one at the end!

The selections they chose for me weren't bad actually. But largely, I'd seen them but not actually rated them.

Someone mentioned Mediahint here and I've been using that for a few weeks to get US access for free (on PC) but I found the lack of options slightly limiting, so I found another extension available through the store Hola Unblocker. Yay Canada.

    Portable view - Never forget.

Cheers Mr-Brett, Hola works a treat. Means I can cancel Unblock-US until the new NHL season starts at least.

Just tried the mediahint extension and what a wonderful find, will try out Hola though.

Mind you after everyone saying US has way more I have to say it doesn't have that much more, I was a little underwhelmed.

Still found a few things we wanted to watch in my house so a nice bonus to dip in and out of regions, I'm straight on Doctor Who Series 6 tonight....which is bizarre when you think about it, I'm in the UK and having to backdoor the US to watch a UK show.

the hola one is better than mediahint from what i have seen so far, and it was me that recommended mediahint i think. The netflix switching is awesome.

Last night Mediahint was a bit broken for me. Not sure if it's been fixed for me yet so i'll give Hola a try.

Yeah, it's no longer a case of "more" for the US, just "different selection".

Canada, though, their film selection is great :-)

Crikey you're right, Canada does have a great film selection.

Been using Hola for a while to watch US Netflix, never thought of switching it to Canada.

Anyone with ATV, I take it you just switch to Canada on the location and "Hey presto!"?

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

Sign up for the Unblock US trial. All it needs is an email address, then apply the settings in the How to section and away you gp.

Oddly The Hobbit is on UK netflix but not US/CA. It's not on the list yet so you have to search for it.

Great shout Brett, been meaning to watch this. I wonder if watching it via Netflix lessens the impact of the 48fps debacle? I saw it playing in John Lewis the other week and the visuals really jarred with me.

I thought cinemas had to get fancy gear to play it at 48fps? Can you buy a 48fps version for home tvs? Maybe you were just having a stroke. Or they had that awful trumotion thing on. Or I'm talking ass.

Or I'm talking ass!! It definitely looked odd on a big whopping TV.

Unless I'm missing something, TV's have been able to do 48fps for ages and some people said it looked like a soap opera (which are obviously on TV) because of the 48fps. Plus all the kids are playing 60fps games on their games consoles these days!

The reason it required special equipment in cinemas is presumably because films have always been in 24 so there was no need to have 48 capable stuff before.

Was watching LA Confidential on a big posh Samsung smart TV in a hotel room last night and it looked REALLY weird. After a while I decided it was the frame rate - would that have been some sort of Trumotion processing on the TV itself then?

I don't think you can get a 48fps version of The Hobbit on Blu-ray can you? If you're seeing it looking that smooth it's just that the TV has tru-motion (other TV technologies are available) switched on.

Alot of TVs nowadays come with that interpolation bullshit that makes things look like they are moving to fast and smooth for me. I turn it off, makes films look TV quality.

I hate trumotion. I seem to be the only one who can see it in my family and it drives me mad. Parents TV continually turns it back on if you even look at the settings page.

There's got to be some kind of niche there for a company that makes good TVs with the absolute minimum of image processing nonsense. Unless there already is one?

I hate that bullshit too. I don't know how some people don't notice it!

    Come and get it cumslingers!
