    Apparently it is 10bit. It's the 49" and lower that are 8bit.

    @the_milkybar_kid I got an email from Richer Sound this morning and this was their headline TV deal;

    https://www.richersounds.com/samsung-ue55mu7000-soc.html?utm_source=emailmarketing&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=20171123__black_friday_3_actives&utm_content=2017-11-24

    Apologies if that link is messy, sent from phone.

    @the_milkybar_kid What about this one? Seems fairly decent:

    @the_milkybar_kid Not proper 10 bit. it is 8 bit and frc

    Samsung UE557000

    Meaning it doesn't truly accept 10 bit data, it interpolates between two states to give the impression of greater colour resolution.

    A bit like the difference between 1080i and 1080p. Never set eyes on a 10 bit and 8 bit frc at the same time. So no idea how noticeable it is, but will certainly hamper the hdr quality.

    Donít you have to make concessions on HDR if your budget is sub 1000 though?

    @greg_wha Yes, but not on 10 bit RGB.

    This sony, which was Digital Foundary's recomended non OLED tv this year, can be had for less than 1k.

    Sony 49 inch xe900 at £999

    Display sepcs for Sony xe900

    Cheers chaps. I know I'm not getting the best TV in the world for 6-800, but sifting thought the crappy sets to find the best of the bunch is a tougher job. As long as the panel is nice and vivid (and has HDR in some form) then I'll be happy. Was all set for the 60" Hisense as I've got a 55" pre HDR 4k set that'll be moving into another room, but would make the size concession for a better panel.

    That Richer Sounds deal is interesting but not too keen on the 30 day until you can claim cashback when JL are doing the same thing straight off the bat.

    We're not going to be moving until January so could wait to see what comes round in the January sales.

    Thanks for your help.

    Fair play, that looks like an amazing TV for the price.

    @DakeyrasUK

    That site also lists the LG OLEDs at 10 bit and I'm pretty sure they're 12 as they support Dolby Vision?

    I'm no expert, but have been doing a lot of research in run up to black friday. But alas for me, I couldn't save enough/convince the wife to let me get a tv on finance...

    I would go for the Sony XE at £999 if I had the cash. Would somehow raise the extra £200 if my budget was £800...

    Games I ordered from GAME arrived this morning.
    My base.com order for Lego city hasn't. If anything I was expecting game to have charged me 4 times and be slower. Seems not on this occasion.

    I saw that deal in curry's really great price. It's almost getting to the point where consoles are disposable.
