Haven't they been largely focussed on physics with rfactor 2 though?
Yeah, and they've done a decent job to be fair to them. Just having played rFactor for years the jump to the sequel is more of a baby step really which is a little disappointing.

That said, actually installing and downloading mods should be infinitely easier which is nice.

Considering the physics between all the top line sims are now at a level where there's no real king I can't help but be a bit of a graphics whore as it adds to the immersion. Plus CARS (like Shift) definitely has the sound nailed too.

The sound is great. Cranked up through the headphones is awesome.

Formula A is far to hardcore for my noob abilities, so enjoying the Audi touring car thingy, and the Gumbert is quite fun as well.

The ai has a quirk that it always wants to rejoin at 90 degrees to the road, so any cars that run off the road are guaranteed to cause a smash when coming back on :D

The AI is pretty much placeholder at the moment, which is a pity. I suppose there's little point doing much work on it until the physics are properly nailed down.

32 car races in the Caterham at Connecticut Hill are bordering on sublime. At least until the AI inevitably does something psychotic and/or stupid. Potential clear to see though.

Le Mans available today, still pretty basic but had a blast doing races in the Atom earlier.

It's pretty impressive the amount of fixes & new content which gets added each week.

Is it still to early to attempt a forum time-trial challenge?

They've done a decent job of Le Mans track as a lot of versions never seem to get the undulations of the first few corners right. Even walking up to the Dunlop bridge is a steep uphill trek so it's great that it feels the same in car too.

Forum time trial sounds fun, anyone got a preference for car/track combos?

This weeks build should also see the first test phase of full 24 hour time cycle. Looks ridiculously good.

Went on a binge tonight, then.

Noticed you didn't use cockpit view for either of the Asanos. You can use WASD to adjust seat position which helps a lot in those cars.

ahh, yeah tried out pretty much most of the cars - i'm liking the leonus cars most so far.

the asanos yeah i didn't know how to move the view and the touring car you basically can't see out of it at all in the default position :D

Had a great time though. cheers!

Downloading the latest version just now, it's been a while since I tried it.
One thing I will say is that all the still images look fan-fucking-tastic but in my humble opinion it doesn't translate well when in motion, it's just not sharp enough.
I really want this to be great but I was a bit disillusioned after the lag-fix update when I finally got to feel the physics and they still seemed floaty.

Hopefully having given myself a few weeks break from it I will notice a jump in quality. I like the idea of EG time trials.

Last weeks build, with much stiffer tyre physics, was a good step toward making things more precise.

I've not really driven the 77 much. Mainly stuck to the Racers and Asanos. /checks leaderboard

It's lovely, it's like a slighlty less manic version of the 86 seeing as it doesn't have that insane turbo in it - it dos still have backs or power in the upper third though andi just love the noise it makes, you can also really chuck it around like a cart, lifting off to induce oversteer into a turn and then powering out - with practice.

i did do some running in the Asano Tourer at Imo- bologna.
