But worryingly Games is after Social, TV and Music (I think). For what is at the end of the day (as much as MS want it not to be) a games console, that is very strange.

Yeah, got update yesterday already and found out the 'video-bug' (washed out levels of gamevideos from Marketplace and all video content played through apps)is fixed: now all gamevideos look great again, nice deep blacklevels, clear whites and depth to the image is restored!!!!
Other change i noticed: cloudsaving option not showing anymore in 'select storage device-screen' in games, when disabled in options. Before it was still available as option even though i would have disabled its function in dashboard. When there's more than 1 storage device available (USB stick and/or enabled cloudsaving)then you get that screen where you choose. With just HDD as storage device, you dont get that optionscreen and it will just save without manually selecting the only option available.
Felt stupid selecting HDD as save destination while i already told xbox i dont want cloudsaving enabled.
The reason i have cloudsaving disabled is because if you enabled it, it also automatically enables background downloads (which i like and already had enabled before), but now with Winter dashupdate, when you turn off xbox, it will still be operating (without outputting video)for minute or so. This time is used to upload your saves/data to the cloud (i guess).
I dont like it, especially if you disable cloudsaving it still does that, untill you ALSO disable background downloading and now it will be as was before: silent xbox the moment you turn it off.
Unfortunately this still isnt fixed by 'Valentine's update' (lol). I have background downloads disabled and only when i want to use this option (downloading big +1.5 gig demo or something)i will turn it on.
I have a lot of issues with new dash, but the thing i dont like the most is that information is not updated (quickly enough):
when i sign in there are (lets say) 2 friends online. I see there Avatar, i can see what they are playing/doing. Then i go watch some gamevideos or download a demo or whatever. I get notification that Friend No 3 came online. So while im still in dashboard i browse tabs and in Social tab i still see only the 2 friends from the beginning. Third friend isnt showing in Avatar form (like he is not online at all). Dash clearly states: Friends: 3, but only see 2. This will be forever untill you do something which makes Dash warm reset (quiting game back to dash for instance), so it will download recent info.
Really strange, because before it was instantly showing who was online, who came online and who went offline in Avatar Friends channel.
Its bit ugly as well: when u see friend showing in Social tab playing (let say Battlefield), you might think he cool he's still online, wanted to play with him, well im lucky he still playing while i was doing something else, ill join him quick. So i sent him a message if i could get an invite please. The dude never responded. I didnt get it, usually hes a nice guy. Till i found out he went offline an frickin hour ago. He was just still showing in my Social tab, still playing Battlefield. I felt stupid because it trusted a function of a Dashboard, which somehow you are not able to trust anymore....
Maybe its just me, getting a faulty dash update or somethings wrong with memory management or something, could anyone (still awake after my too long text for a first post, sorry about that)confirm its just me or its part of the new features of the 'improved' Dash. Thank you in advance. -

You would think these companies would be disappointed and kick up a fuss, 50 million consoles with only a few million Gold subscribers. Thanks for the access to your consumer base! Whatever, they pay us £30 for fuck all, muwhahahaha!
On the bright side, I think it's only a matter of time before Gold as we know it disappears. The amount of deals we got this gen has to show people aren't exactly flocking to a Gold sub and as such effects a number of things like online participation, extra content and the platform as a whole. I don't think Nintendo or Sony will charge next time. Free online at least will be standard next gen. I don't think competitors will fuck it up this time so MS will look worse next time for charging. MS have no chance of growing the platform substantially if they continue as they do now.

In my games collection, the games are all displayed in shitty little icons.
Yet, loading up on a US account, they are all displayed with full covers.
What gives?

Registered 1 year agoi usually dont have Zune app installed (so i can watch downloaded gamevideos without going through Zune bs), but today they showed Inglorious Bastards movie offer somewhere on Marketplace, so i thought lets give it a try again.
App downloaded quick as always, but now with update on top.
I think they have finally managed to get video-levels correct now with film/video based Zune material: blacks are inky and detail and depth is there again!!
Unfortunately other apps (tried Muzu and Crackle and Vevo)dont seem to have new updates, so still washed out image..
Stupid discount offer was only for buying a SD version. I dont wanna buy and certainely not in SD (which is American SD: 480 instead of our PAL SD 576).. -

Registered 5 years agoIt's alright, i have it for the PS3 (you just need to sign up for a US PSN account - 5 minutes work, download it and then it can be used on any account on the PS3, from any region) and i can use it on my laptop and PC.
MS have just decided that it can only be downloaded on a US account, can only be used with the same account and can only be fully used with a Gold US XBL account even if you already have the full MLB.tv package (which, incidentally, is completely unrestricted as regards what country you are in).
Masterstroke stuff from MS as per usual. Having got PS+ recently for my PS3 and getting free stuff and discounts regularly on PSN as a result, i'm starting to get badly annoyed at having to pay for XBL to actually just make shit have basic functionality on the 360 and get fuck all extras. -
