Registered 8 years agoI got this with dead island too. I think it's the console fov when playing up close to the monitor on pc. Why some developers don't adjust this I don't know.

Registered 3 years agoYes, Dead Island also makes me feel ill after a while. I assume its the camera swaying, especially when he gets into a vehicle. Odd, I dont usually suffer from it.
Edit - I remember I used to feel ill after playing 5 hrs straight of UT/quake, but thats just asking for it. -

Registered 4 years agoI think it's called simulation sickness, and it does exist, and it's not really a case of manning the fuck up, tbh.
I've never really had it, apart from once playing Half-Life 2. Had to turn it off for a while. I reckon the fact that I'd had about 6 cups of coffee was probably more to do with it, though. -

Registered 7 years agoI get this with quite a lot of 3D platformers where you control the camera with the right stick.I've turned off all the avatars and crap, so don't expect me to be impressed by yours.

Registered 6 years agoWhen I first played Quake I got motion sickness. Something to do wth the, what was new to me at the time, 3D FPS, and the bouncing walk that Mr Quake had -
The Kane and Lynch 2 multiplayer on PC made me feel ill instantly. Single player was fine though. Game was shit mind you.

Registered 6 years agoI've had it with most FPS. HL, HL2, Doom3, Cod. I can play for hours one day and be fine and then 15 minutes on any other day feel sick as a dog. -

Had the same with Dead Island until I changed the field of view to an angle that looks a little less like you're looking through a telescope. It's in the options (at least in the PC version, don't know about the consoles).

Overpowering nausea was the cherry on the top of a shit sundae of respawning enemies and first person 'guess' jumping.
Which reminds me of another Gamecube title which gave me motion sickness, Billy Hatcher.
I never really experienced it on the PS2 for some reason, though that could be my choice of games, the last proper FPS I played was Halo and I've played only a couple of slow paced first person games since, Michigan: A Report From Hell I played start to finish with no problems.
A few minutes of the Mirror's Edge demo was enough to take me back to Wannavomit City though. -

Seriously that level that Drake was forced to solve with Tenzin was just surreal. -

Registered 7 years agoI get it very occasionally from games - Marathon on the mac used to sometimes trigger it, as did Half Life on the PC.
Often find it's flickering near the edge of the screen - just in the peripheral vision that sets it off.
Those 3d TVs where you wear the glasses give me motion sickness almost immediately - bleurgh. -
I remember the only time I had this was playing TimeSplitters 2. I had owned the game for about a year so I had no idea what was going on at first. I'd pause it and go sit by the toilet, thinking I was going to throw up. Once I felt better i'd come back and try again. I did this 5 or 6 times before I realised what was going on. Thankfully it was only a 1 day thing.
