    Yes, Steve single handedly wrote every Pixar script and made every Apple ad ever.

    The guy was great, but let's not blow things out of proportions. It lessens what he actually did.

    You fucking have to feel pity for people like RaySwore. So full of conviction for their viewpoint that they feel the need to create a sock account to express it.

    RIP Mr. Jobs, the computing world that I, and everyone else, experience today is in no small way down to you, and for that alone I thank you. For saving Pixar when they needed the money...cherry on the top.

    @Fab, quite liked the irony of a sock accusing some EGers of bring spineless and gutless.

    Properly sad news. Thoughts to his family and friends, and of course everyone that works for Apple.
    RIP Steve Jobs, you wonderful madman.

    Going to apple.com actually moved me. That's a perfect way to say goodbye to the man, and somehow I think he'd have approved.

    Jokes about dead people are pretty much par for the course on EG. I'm up for a few more, especially if it annoys the holier than thous'.  Steve Jobs cant be immune when everyone else gets a good kicking after they pop their clogs.

    Steve;

    People laughed when Apple dared to start offering developers the ability to make video games on your machine, yet in the iPod, Phone and Pad, you have the biggest games console the world has ever seen.

    You changed the games industry more than people realise.

    RIP.

    See this is where the silliness starts. How on earth are any of those items a games console?  They are gadgets which can play games, despite being seriously knobbled by a total lack of a decent control method.

    Much sadder than I thought I'd be considering I never even met the guy. His achievements speak for themselves really, and Apple is nowhere near as interesting without him at the helm. I'm really interested to find out what happens to all of his money, as he never publicly donated any of it to good causes during his lifetime... we shall see.

    Wrong. So, so wrong.

    A machine becomes a games console when;

    - people buy a machine for its games (which they do)

    - thousands of GAMES DEVELOPERS are created to make games for a machine (which there are)

    Anyway, this isn't the place for this debate.

    Considering I don't even think of the Vita/3DS as "game consoles" (they're handhelds) to me iphone etc aren't game consoles either.

    Consoles sit under yer telly, innit.

    Does this mean flash will be allowed on the ipad / iphone?

    I might consider finally buying one if so.

    RIP Steve.

    I never thought I'd lower myself to buying overpriced Apple gubbins, but you helped turn me into a raving iphone/iPad fanboy.

    You'll still never catch me near a MacBook mind. That's my small victory.

    Wasn't Steve/Apple very anti-gaming anyway? It was only with the App store getting flooded by games that kind of turned that around. IIRC of course.

    Do you think the iPhone 4 S was for Steve?

    Or am I looking too much into it....

    I seriously doubt it. And I fucking hope not because I'm happy that someone is trying hard to rid the world of flash on the web (but that's for another thread).

    On a serious point, was Jobs, or Apple as a company, the reason for the puritanical nature of their stuff? With him out of the way will Apple start allowing Manga and such back onto their stuff?

    Sad news. I genuinely thought Dirtbox would find some Scottish porn.
