    If it's backwards compatible don't see why not. Have to wait and see what Sony say.

    So, do you think we might get consoles that don't look horrible this time around ?

    I think the only least offensive ones are the 360 Slim Matte, boring as it is and the PS2 Slim being so small. Everything else has been horrible. Sony design seems to be power brick, fan, port base foundation...right, lets build a Playstation on top. Absolutely horrible.

    Going for the media hub and all that, low power options, could they actually make nice looking consoles first time?

    @Razz well.. that's sad. After 7 years I expect a bigger leap than 7850.. freaking kinect is messing things up(
    And Sony's better spec still won't make a big difference for multiplatform games if MS goes in with such a lowend rig. Maybe ps4 will have a better textures but nonetheless, nextgen's overall graphics quality lies in MS hands now.

    I don't think I'll ever buy a console that requires me to sign up to a connected identity to play games, so that's me buying a Wii U if both other consoles go down that route. I'm less bothered about used games - I've bought a handful over the years, mostly through swapsies from you good people, but to my memory I've only got one second hand game this gen.

    Edit: You mention Lovefilm (in the context of movie rentals and streaming). FWIW, their method of game rental, by sending out discs, would be basically killed by anything which targetted second hand gaming, without specific loopholes being built into the protection they employ (and then, any such loopholes are likely to be targetted by hackers pretty quickly).

    Same goes for Macs and Linux boxes then.

    You keep repeating the same thing in every thread without knowing what you're talking about. Fixed hardware forces optimisation, expandable hardware doesn't.

    Well, in light of Crysis 3 coming out soon it would be a shame for the newest consoles to have not enough capacity for it. I mean, at least I expect xbox 3/ ps4 to run current gen games over 60 fps@1080p.

    I don't think it'll be a multi platform game like Crysis 3 that'll show us what the new consoles can do. We'll need some exclusives for that.

    Indeed.

    Developers with lose visual quality with 60fps, the majority of users don't know or care for 30/60 fps and would rather their games had amazing graphics.

    I'm with you apart from the ps2 level graphics.  I think it needs to be 720p minimum, in fact I'd happily stay at that but I want all the physics and environmental effects turned up to 11.
