I believe that logo is from the "Xbox Kids" console (their variant that's hard-locked to only play games suitable for children up to twelve years old to avoid fucking retarded parents from buying their 6-year-old games like The Witcher 3 and GTA V, remember?). Will be interesting to see how successful it is.

Haven't you ever heard of a "Nintendo Wii"? Also locked to only play games suitable for children up to twelve years old, and sold billions.

Edge have revealed all the new PS4 details from GDC .

The Blu Ray drive is three-times faster than the PS3, the touchpad is a clickable button and the Share button captures the last few minutes of play on a separate chip inside the console, therefore not impacting on any game’s technical performance.

    Its all going on.....

Play as you download? Now that is a nifty way to bypass the entire "games take forever to download" thing.

Sony also encouraged developers to use the ‘play as you download’ feature which David Perry explained at PlayStation Meeting. Studios will be able to split game data into multiple chunks, so that PS4 owners can jump in and play the game as it is downloading, once the minimum amount of data has been downloaded or copied to the hard drive.

The example Norton used was that any PS4 owner will be able to begin downloading a title remotely on their phone through the PlayStation app, returning home from work to be greeted by a new, playable PS4 game. “We want to minimise the amount of time we spend staring at loading screens,” said Norton.

That touchpad still looks like a tool in search of a purpose. I'd like to hear something as to what it'll be used for, other than pointlessly replacing a couple of buttons.

Has there been any word about when in april MS were supposed to be chatting about their next gen thing? They surely can't leave it too much longer.

I'd really like to have some info instead of rumours to weigh up the options.

Well the ps4 isn't out to Feb/march in Europe so you got a year to.decide :)

I heard they're going to release the 720 before they announce it.

Is it that long? I thought it was supposed to be this year for europe too.

I'm frankly fed up of all the rumours and would like some concrete facts now MS. Generation transitions always piss me off with all the rumour and conjecture beforehand.

Edit: Not as much as my spack-handed typos annoy me mind.

They're doing a good job of keeping quiet about it. I much prefer that to the normal barrel of hype.

I'll be glad to wait and hear all the rumours and speculation in the world if MS can tell us what the 720 will be with certainty. Not a load of talk about "we hope to" and "at some point".

Is this confirmed and if so, do you have a source / link?

No - guess work and conjecture.

    Q4 2013

I certainly don't expect to be able to buy one in this territory this year.

In their announcement they stayed a holiday 2013 release for America and when questioned re Europe they wouldn't commit to the same American date due to complexity of global launch etc.

Now holiday 2013 means xmas so likelihood is November or early December release in America and I would eat my foot if Sony shipped it in Europe in the same time frame.

You'll be able to download all the games before it's released so that they're all ready to play before you get it. And you won't even need to open the box to play on it. It'll be sweeeeet.

Best put some ketchup on it or something before you chow down, it looks a little well done.

Yeah I've heard all that too. It's hardly an outright 'no PS4 for Europe in 2013' though, but I take you point. To be honest, I'm just trying to be optimistic, until I hear a definitive yay or nay.

I would love a xmas 2013 launch, would almost guarantee my money with bf3, Diablo 3 and destiny. Shit that will cost me! Guess 350 console 50 per game = 500! Oh the pain.

Didn't someone slip up at Ubisoft recently saying that Assassins' Creed: Pirate whatever-its-called was to release on all platforms simultaneously and they gave an end of October date or something? You never know.. if they start the production run early enough they could pull off a worldwide launch. Missing Xmas would be a blow for them in the pockets that's for sure.

I'm not sure how that comment translates into a WW launch for the PS4 anyway?
