Registered 8 years agoI love how a new console is coming out and all anyone cares about is playing old games.
No wonder they just keep making the same games over and over again. -

How is it linked to stating the fact the ps3 didn't have enough memory?

Doesn't work like that, the dx codebase just makes porting easier, it doesn't mean you can play the game on anything that has directx.

Registered 6 years agoWell that was my thoughts on it but I suppose that fact alone simply makes it easier but not a easy implementation. Some form of software BC might be the most we get.
I'm hoping all the XBLA stuff just transferes across though. Would be great to have the likes of Trials and stuff from the off.
Of course BC isn't the be all and end all as it's the new games that I really want. -

Registered 8 years ago@Dirtbox Hmm... I read somewhere that the similar processor combined with DirectX would make BC much easier. Maybe they meant emulation rather than straight up. -

Registered 7 years agoHow is the Gaikai BC deal supposedly going to work - you just pop a PS3 game in your PS4 and it streams?
I figured they'd just have everything available to be re-purchased. -

Yeah, emulation would likely work fine as only the kernel and CPU need emulating.

I think.

Registered 7 years ago@vizzini you really still believe that? You really, honestly still believe that demos of Killzone 2 were actually WORSE than the final product?
There can be no helping you.
I'm tempted to hook up to the TV via HDMI (bless, even an ancient 5570 has it), go for Win 7's snap feature with 2 Chrome windows, with this thread to one side and video feed to the right. I'll even re-add my auto-refresh Chrome plugin so I get every damn post as it happens.

Registered 6 years agoI'm actually really looking forward to it. even though I think the PC will remain my platform of choice I know I'm definitely going to buy at least one of the the two new machines.
Even just the fact that the scope of the games on PC will no longer be so obviously hamstrung by the console market is enough to make me interested in seeing what comes about with the new machines.
I also think it won't be anything like previous console releases - I reckon there will be a load of games ready to go for launch as they're so late at this stage and, by all accounts, the dev kits have been out there for so long that there's got to be a lot of stuff either nearing completion or done already. -
Hopefully they've learnt from Nintendo's recent example and do have a launch line up of note. It would be a nice change from the 6 month drought that plagues most console launches once you've been through the 4 or 5 titles of note.
