New IP and more varied game play ideas is what I'm looking forward

Playing Halo 4 and thinking they just made this shit smaller. Advance through linear level to press button, cue cinematic scene. Looks at new Tomb Raider.

I know things might not change but I hope so with some more breathing space on new consoles rather than the road to boredom, button to win moments that look awesome. Lets have some good AI and open game play without scene triggers that are as subtle as a hammer to the face.

Oh I'd forgotten about Sony's thing. 20th huh?

I'm too jaded and uncaring about any of it to look forward to be it being anything other than a marketing assault to get their foot in the door before MS beats them to the retail punch. Might be another epic faceplant or it might get juices flowing.

Don't know, don't care, but if it's a big fat failure I'm looking forward to the onslaught of hilarity at the expense of sony's staying in business for much longer. I'd rather them to do something right for a change though.

I think somewhere in the very depths of your heart Mr. Dirtbox, you do care.

Going by post count on the topic DB cares more than anyone about the PS4.

I'm going to reserve my excitement about Sony's new console until after I've seen it. We all remember the huge expectations of the Wii U reveal last E3 and how Nintendo handled it...

I love fucking with people who care about sony, there's a big difference.

Peanor for example, he's cracking the sony branded kleenex out as we speak.

Don't be rediculous, Dirtbox, Sony don't make Kleenex. But they do make the components of Kleenex that another company can forge into a better product and then more successfully bring to market.

Regarding the news of the PS4 being £300, It'll probably be £300 for the basic sku, and abit more say £350 for the premium, probably just a larger hdd and maybe an extra bell or a whistle.  I'd be surprised and dismayed if either Sony or MS have gimped skus next gen.  Even MS, if the download only rumours are true, all their consoles would have to have sizable hdds, surely.

    £299 for a PS4. £399 for a PS4 with a power brick and a controller.

No, spends half his time in obsessive, loopy rants about Sony like some paranoid spacker yet forgot about the 20th. LOL.

This is the thing. The specs that have leaked have 250GB in Sony's machine and 500GB in the new Xbox. I can't help but think after the images of the dev kit and pad that Move is packed in (sensor's on the pad, gives parity with Kinect), and although those specs are hardly £3000 gaming rig they're also not cheap. Plus, GDDR5 is really expensive.

£300 would be a loss, I think, and in these times I don't think either company's willing to make one. The Xbox division needs to continue its drive into the black, and Sony can't afford another Vita.

The kicker is, we won't even find out tomorrow. We won't find out for months. The rumours are pretty silly, simply because we all know price and release date will be the last details we get. Neither company's going to do that before E3.

Both companies will sell for a loss. I don't doubt that for a second.

Even if they do sell at a loss, it's not going to be in the hundreds. When they're both debuting new tech-laden pads, cameras, and systems with relatively sizeable HDDs (for 2.5" drives), I don't see them aiming for the same price as a Wii U Premium.

Apparently Killzone 4 is expected to be used to demonstrate the hardware tomorrow. Anyone else thinking that's a mistake? Racing games are good proofs as everyone knows what cars look like. Killzone 2's infamous for being this for PS3 and more to the point being an utter lie.

    @sanctusmortis

Except Killzone 2 and 3 actually look better than the demoed videos. What appears to be a lie(you mention), is the single player open world scale in that PS3 video. Using Killzone 4 to demo the technology is actually a good yardstick. If the game isn't being “Played” then that tells us a lot.

    Um... what?

They look nice, but nowhere near that video. Likewise Motorstorm.

Pity they closed studio Liverpool. Would have loved a ps4 wipeout (that said a proper ps3 wipeout would have been good too!)

Vita has the best wipeout now.

Not sure what the system seller/ killer app of ps4 will be. Maybe nothing - maybe just a more powerful machine with better digital content infrastructure.

There really needs to be some decent content though..
