I don't remember ever seeing that. the eyetoy/cups thing was actually quite good considering it was 6-7 years ago.
I'm pretty sure none of them demo was done in real time. Especially not the pre-move eye toy bullshit.

I also just re-watched the 2005 Motorstorm and KZ2 trailers...history proved them to be CGI but the way they were produced and presented was clearly to dupe people into thinking they were gameplay.
There's no way that glass pouring EyeToy tech demo thing wasn't done in real-time. Almost certainly wasn't done in real-time on a PS3, but I have no doubt it was performed live, on some silly beast of a computer backstage.

If history has taught me anything about Sony, it's to ignore everything they say and show before the thing is actually released. They absolutely will lie, cheat and steal to get a sale.

However, I think they might know that if they pull that shit again, there won't be a Playstation 5.
It was a long time ago though, in fairness. A lot has changed. No Kutaragi, no Harrison. They didn't make any claims about Vita capabilities that turned out to be not true.

I like to think the people at Microsoft know what their doing with the specs. They did well the last two times. Proof has always been in the pudding. I would still be surprised if MS don't one up Sony in real world game performance even with the so called specs out there.

It looks underwhelming on paper, but I think we'd probably be foolish to write it off without seeing what devs are making of it.

Yeh, isn't the ps3 more powerful than the 360 on paper? Yet multiplatform games routinely look better on 360 and exclusives are of similar quality as well.

...I don't really know what I'm talking about here, but that's broadly accurate right?

Games? They don't have games! They have flops! And rops! And possibly mops. It's all about the next-gen Folding At Home!

They will have social networking and media streaming applications. And maybe CoD.

    E3 2013

Microsoft "Lets welcome Mark Zuckerberg to the stage"

Microsoft "Next, our head of ads and services division and lead developer of Kinect 2.0"

"As you can see, Kinect is able to detect what your eyes are looking at on the screen so now we can understand better what adverts are working and optimise placement on the new dashboard as well as apps and games.

A huge leap that will bring true next gen entertainment to consumers homes, tailored to the individual thanks to the new innovations of Kinect and our ad platform."

Microsoft " Please welcome head of marketing Doritos Pope".

That option will only work if they buy developers, and its too late in the day for that.
People are wise to the fact that the third party "Exclusives" like GTA DLC, Limbo etc will eventually appear on Sony's console, so that trick may not work as well next time around.
Key word being eventually. Waiting a year for something that might come out is not a USP.

all i want from the next gen is 60 frames per second, 1080p graphics as a minimum and 100% backwards compatibility with the current gen.

propper remote play with the vita would steer me towards the PS4
i dont want to spend any more than 299.99

So i look forward to being offered half of these features for 599.99

Yes, because polygons with no textures and lighting rendered at 1080p is massively appealing ....

    'All' you want lol

    obviously my list wasnt exhaustive,
i was simply stating what my bare minimum expectations are for the improvements from one gen to the other

i would also like the console to be able to produce sound, and the graphics to be in colour.

My point was that every generation of consoles raises a question:

    - Visual fidelity or Resolution?

..and the choice will depend on the game and the developer. Ruling that you must have 1080p and 60FPS is not only unrealistic, it misses the point of more powerful hardware, ignores the above choice, the inherent finite limitations of any system and the expectations of most gamers of a generational leap in visual fidelity over and above resolution.

If you really just want games to look broadly similar to the current gen but in a higher resolution, that's a pretty depressing outlook. If that's all you want, go and buy a low-mid spec gaming PC.

I dunno, I'm crossing my fingers for the next gen Nintendo console being a step forward in that way.

but 60 fps and 1080p are possible this gen, shouldnt that be the jumping off point for any new machines?
