Exactly! I wanted him to detonate it! If only to prove the crazy lady right
Ho-hum, I enjoyed this but I feel it could/should have been braver. It would have been great if they went ahead with Brody going ahead with the suicide bomb, don't you think?
Looks like it's going to be only time before the CIA has the "Oh Shit! She was right!" Moment. Considering how the season went, it may never come

Watched the first episode last night. Does it get better quickly?

Registered 9 years agoIf you're not into it by episode 3 I'd drop it. A lot happens in a few episodes, though the general pace is always slow to medium.
It's only 12 eps. -

funny as I felt the first three were the best. Then, with the introduction of two characters, it turns into 24 with tits.

Registered 4 years agoIn episode 2, Saul goes to get a warrant for the surveillance and has a discussion about a Dutch painting, can anyone tell me the artist? I've got a sneaky suspicion it's a Metsu, can anyone shed any light? -
Not sure, though I think it was a clue about the final reveal in the episode:
They mentioned that the painter hid his true religion, and that he was secretly Jewish. It tied in nicely with the reveal that Brody has converted to Islam. -

Registered 6 years agoJust finished watching this - superb series, one of the best I've seen, although I thought it went a little off the boil around Episode 8 but soon came back again. Stunning performances from Claire Danes, Damian Lewis but Mandy stole the show for me, hands down.
Mixed feelings about a second season, but with the right script....(just wouldn't want 7/8 series tbh)Fiat Lux

Registered 2 years agoyeah the ad breaks were ridiculous.
i enjoyed the first episode, but now seen two and three, it seems a bit lame.
don't know why all the hype, awards etc. it has a bit of a 'law & order' whiff about it (acting wise) with a lot of the characters. don't know what it is. it's like too try-hard or just unbelievable dialogue. -

Registered 11 years ago24 is a good analogy. I got the same vibe from most of Season 1 of Homeland. But darker, quite a bit darker.

Four episodes in and it's starting to feel like watching a boring version of 24. Not sure I get where the wild critical acclaim is coming from. Have the huge list of critics on Metacritic with 100 ratings not seen Jack Bauer do all this stuff already?!?

Registered 7 years agoIt kicks up a gear in a few episodes, it's worth sticking with and much better than 24. -
OK, nine episodes in and it's really good.

Registered 8 years agoHeh, glad it came good for you.
The comparisons to 24 are understandable (a few 24 writers are involved in this too), but the shows are quite different. Homeland is nowhere near as silly, for one thing. And it moves slower; the plot doesn't need to progress at breakneck speed.
And I liked 24! But I liked this for different reasons. 24 is a show that you watch with popcorn and beer and friends, taking shots every time Jack says "damnit". -
I'm still convinced that Saul is a terrorist, BTW.

I used to think that, but now I'm leaning the other way. A lot of his actions wouldn't make sense if he had that motivation. Unless he's playing a *really* long game - even longer than Brody.

(spoilers for those who haven't seen the last few episodes of this season)

I reckon they're gonna do something crazy like reveal he's the POW who Carrie was warned about. We still haven't seen much of his backstory, but I reckon there's something murky in his history still to be revealed...

Well, obviously I can't say for sure. But he has seemed genuinely surprised by developments in Nazir's plans, and seems to genuinely care for Carrie, enough that he wouldn't screw her around.

That being said, it would explain some things. Like how he was able to get a confession out of the white terrorist lady.
It could happen. There is a mole in the CIA. But it might stretch credulity if it turned out to be him. Really looking forward to season 2, no matter what happens! -
Argh the suspense!

Registered 8 years agoWatching this at UK pace and it's my favourite show at the moment. Really enjoying the ambiguity of it all, especially trying to second guess the motives of all the key players.
Even at this stage I can't honestly see the value of a second series. It's too tight a concept to be stretched out further. When you can't see the angles on the wall you're in trouble.

Registered 3 years agoI really really hate the opening credits. They're weird and go on forever, and are followed by a massive "last week on Homeland" bit. -
I thought that, and when you fast-forward, there is no break to identify between last weeks horrendously long recap and the start of the episode.
