    According to 9to5Mac, the next iPhone isn’t just popping up in AT&T’s inventory system: it’s in Apple’s too, and it’s confirmed to pack a dual-core A5 SoC.


    In addition, the packaging number seemingly confirms the MD239F/A barcode leak of earlier today, with the model number for the 32GB unit being MD234.

    9to5Mac also notes something we missed when we posted the barcode earlier today: the IMEI and MEID being together on the iPhone 4S label confirms that the next iPhone is a world phone and can run on GSM+CDMA at the same time.

    So it looks pretty much confirmed: the next iPhone is called the iPhone 4S, not the iPhone 5, and so it’s likely not a radical redesign over current models.

    Finally, 9to5Mac says that the iPod Touch is likely to see a small price drop next week to at least $199 for the 8GB model to be able to better compete with the new Kindle Fire, down from a $229 price point.

    Yeah, I might have been tempted with a larger screen and a fancy new design but my 4 is serving it purpose right now.

    Im still kind of think that they are going to spring a redesign on us though. Linking in the iPhone5 with IOS5 just seems like a sensible thing to do.

    The companies selling the cases suggest it's shaped like an iPod Touch, and almost as thin :-/

    It's probably quite deliberate to make sure they get everybody, since they are a yearly product cycle.

    Most people are on two year contracts. 3G owners skipped the 3GS and went for the 4, so the 3GS owners now get a nice bone thrown to them now the 4 is starting to show it's age.

    Next year when my contract is up I'll get the 5 and the year after the 4GS owners will pick up the 5GS.

    It's hardly surprising. The iPhone didn't receive a major redesign until 4. They're hardly going to do another major redesign after just a year.

    The thing is, there were all those third party cases leaked that were clearly designed for a new design; trust me, with the cost of tooling to make the molds for those cases being what it is, I can't see there not being an iPhone 5 announced.

    The 4S was expected anyway as a play for the Asian markets. Still, let's see what happens on the 4th.

    The voice commands sound amazing if true. Same mowgli, rolled my eyes at first but if I could have a conversation with it whilst driving... Pretty ace.

    Assistant sounds interesting, but aside from that the extra grunt and RAM will be wasted as most Apps also need to cater for the 3G/S etc.

    If it's an underwhelming announcement, I could be tempted to try a Samsung Galaxy or perhaps Xperia Arc when my contract comes up in January...

    As someone with 9 months of contract left, I'm kinda hoping it's just a 4S, heheh. I'd never really contemplate paying up my contract, but if a 4"+ screened iPhone appeared I'd be insanely jealous. Not going to happen though.

    I just pray iOS5 doesn't slow down my 4 too much. Sounds like it doesn't, hope that's true.

    I always thought the iPhone was on the large side... that would be too big for me (Unless they reduced the size of the speaker / button part).

    It's not as big as Galaxy SII though is it? Which to me seems just a little big. Price points will be vital for me. My 3GS contract finished in June, but I'm not going to upgrade for the sheer hell of it.

    I used to think the 4 was big, but it feels tiny after copping a feel of a few of my mates android phones. As long as it fits into my pocket I'd happily go much bigger(ooer etc), hell I'd even fancy a Galaxy Note, but I'm the minority there and Apple would never go that big.
